Plot Synopsis
DOWN EAST DICKERING is a one-hour reality series that follows four groups of New Englanders in down east Maine, who all scour "Uncle Henry's," a local magazine filled with classified ads, for odd jobs, crazy barters, offbeat goods and other jaw-dropping ways to make a quick buck. Whether it's building a bridge, climbing a bell tower or officiating a wedding, they'll do whatever it takes to make a few dollars so they can enjoy life on their own terms with no time clocks, no bosses, no rules. The four groups include: Tony, who has been dickering since his mother taught him when he was a child raised in Bethel, ME; Tony's companion, Duke, a Jack Russell terrier; Codfish, Tony's longtime friend, who is an auto mechanic and always has Tony's back; Clint, a self-taught dickerer from Sangerville, ME, who can quickly fix anything and everything mechanical; Bruce -- a farmer, a mechanic and a truck driver -- who has made and closed deals for cars, snowmobiles, tractors and anything with a motor; Nate, the apprentice in the group with Clint and Bruce, who is engaged to Clint's daughter and is also an adult education teacher; Yummy, a self-taught dickerer, who is well known in Maine for being able to find whatever people need; Mitch, Yummy's son, who refers to himself as the junior executive of Yummy's operation and whose main goal is to maximize profit; Turtle, a motorcycle specialist, who has been dickering since the age of 17 and was taught by his grandfather; Johnny Awesome, Turtle's stepson, who hasn't quite mastered the craft yet -- but he's trying; and Walt, a motorcycle enthusiast and talented mechanic, who hasn't worked a regular job in eight years and now dickers with Turtle and Johnny Awesome.

On Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at 10pm ET/PT, History aired the Season 2 premiere of DOWN EAST DICKERING, with Team Tony, Team Clint and Team Yummy returning for a second season. They're joined by two new teams: Team Speedy & Tinman, construction guys by trade, who can build, frame, paint, and roof anything; and Team Morin, comprised of twins Tim and Greg and "adopted" brother Jason, who all have jobs outside of dickering -- but bartering is their true passion. In the season opener, "Let's Make a Deal," Thursday is Uncle Henry's Day in Maine. Dickerers from all over the state use Uncle Henry's to buy, sell, swap and trade to support their free-wheeling lifestyles. Tony wants to serve delicious fresh lobster at his family reunion, so he and Codfish head to the shore to dicker for the Maine delicacy, and wind up hitting the high seas to earn it. Meanwhile, Clint, Nate and Bruce agree to clean up a notorious hoarder's barn, hoping the hoarder will agree to sell them some of his precious keepsakes. And a new pair of dickerers, Speedy and Tin Man, sell a brand-new customized pontoon boat -- then must go on a dickering spree to earn the materials to build it.
