Plot Synopsis

Based on Beth Macy's 2018 non-fiction book of the same name, DOPESICK is an eight-episode limited series that examines how one company triggered the worst drug epidemic in American history. The series takes viewers to the epicenter of America's struggle with opioid addiction -- from the boardrooms of Purdue Pharma, to a distressed Virginia mining community, to the hallways of the DEA. The unsparing yet deeply human portraits of the various families affected by Oxycontin addiction and their intersecting stories hold up a mirror to this American tragedy, while shining a hopeful light on the heroes battling the craven corporate forces behind this national crisis. Executive produced by series writer Danny Strong, series director Barry Levinson, and series star Michael Keaton, DOPESICK drops on Wednesday, October 13, 2021, as Hulu releases the first three episodes. A new episode debuts each Wednesday through November 17.

On Wednesday, November 17, 2021, Hulu released "The People vs. Purdue Pharma," the finale of DOPESICK. Rick and Randy's criminal investigation now threatens Richard Sackler's empire, activists take action against Purdue, and Finnix tries to heal his beloved community thats' been ravaged by addiction.
