Plot Synopsis

Based on characters from the 2010 theatrical film LEGION and set in the year 25 A.E. (After Extermination) in post-apocalyptic Vega (formerly Las Vegas), this supernatural drama series follows Alex, a rebellious young soldier, who begins a perilous journey as the war between the human race and the fallen angels hell-bent on their domination escalates. In this transformed post-apocalyptic future, an army of lower angels, assembled by the archangel Gabriel, has waged a war of possession against mankind. The archangel Michael, turning against his own kind, has chosen to side with humanity against Gabriel. Rising out of the ashes of the 25-year-long battle are newly fortified cities which protect the human survivors. In Vega, the largest of these cities, two houses vie for control and the stage is set for political upheaval and a dangerous power shift. Abandoned by his father, Jeep, at a young age, Alex became a soldier, and rose through the ranks to join the Archangel Corps, an elite unit responsible for the protection of Vega's aristocracy. Through his assignment to House Riesen, Alex developed a secret relationship with Claire Riesen, daughter of General Riesen, Lord of the City. Often rebellious, Alex tries to balance his sense of duty with his need for freedom. General Riesen led humanity in the Extermination War 25 years ago, and today leads the city of Vega. A paragon of strength and duty, Riesen helped build Vega, and imposed a class system as a way to keep order and ensure the city's survival. His daughter, Claire, is next in line for his position as Lord of the City. She is beloved by the people and always does her best to watch out for the city's lower classes despite her sheltered and privileged upbringing. Although she is in love with Alex, Claire is torn when her father insists that the only way to help the city of Vega move past the caste system she hates so much is to marry William Whele. William, the son of David Whele, is Vega's Principate and is the religious leader of the Church of The Savior, the religion that has grown since the Extermination War all based around the concept of "The Chosen One." Kind hearted to his flock, he is very much in love with Claire Riesen and welcomes their betrothal, even if he admits it is a political move by their fathers. William's father, David, is the Secretary of Commerce, the chief administrator of Vega and the second most powerful leader in the city. A ruthless and cunning political operator, he's always on the hunt to keep or grow his power...by any means necessary. The Archangel Michael, a legendary warrior throughout history, was the only angel to take humanity's side during the Extermination War, turning against his own kind. Always inscrutable, Michael has watched over Alex his entire life, but is just now beginning to understand the complexities of having such a close relationship with humans. Michael has a forbidden affair with Senator Becca Thorn, one of General Riesen's consuls, who oversees all scientific and medical personnel in the city, and Michael and Becca's relationship involves stronger feelings than even she may be comfortable with. Meanwhile, Michael's scornful and jealous brother, the Archangel Gabriel, is the leader of the angels in the war against humanity. Though a more colorful personality than Michael, Gabriel is full of hate for mankind and wants nothing less than to wipe them out entirely. In the 90-minute Season 1 finale, "Beware Those Closest to You," the identity of a higher angel is revealed, forcing Alex to take his case to the Senate. Meanwhile, General Riesen leaves Vega, Arika greets a delegation from Helena, and Gabriel surrenders. In the 13-episode second season, humanity continues its struggle against the archangel Gabriel and his army of angels. Alex journeys from Vega to the legendary city of New Delphi, a human enclave with a dark secret, hoping to secure a military alliance with its charismatic leader. Back in Vega, Claire Riesen faces a civil war, pitting her against the disgraced David Whele and his newfound rebel allies. While war rages in the few cities left on earth, Michael stumbles upon a mystery in the form of Mallory, a perfect small town seemingly untouched by mankind's war with the angels.

Syfy premiered "Sine Deo Nihil," the Season 2 finale of DOMINION on Thursday, October 1, 2015 at 10pm ET/PT. Season 2 comes to a finish as the 8-Ball Army breaches the walls of Vega; at the same time, David makes one final sacrifice to secure his survival. Meanwhile, Gabriel forces Michael back to Mallory; Noma's dark secret is revealed; Claire is desperate for closure; and Alex fights for control of the only home he has left.
