Plot Synopsis
This annual one-hour special counts down the Top 10 dog stories of the year, celebrating the dogs that go above and beyond, that leave their mark on society, and achieve the nearly impossible. The inaugural special -- hosted by Kevin Frazier and Nischelle Turner from the NYC's American Kennel Club Museum of the Dog in 2019 -- features dogs that have climbed mountains, soothed burn victims, helped inspire an NHL team to a Stanley Cup, and have gone viral with their message of love.
On Thursday, December 17, 2020 at 8pm ET/PT on The CW, DOGS OF THE YEAR returned with an all new cast of pups for its 2020 edition, hosted again by Kevin Frazier and Nischelle Turner. The year's special features Narwhal, the unicorn puppy who makes therapy magical; Triado, a decorated dog who protects airports and events; Hansel, the first Pitbull to become a firefighting K9; Ariel, a service dog who can detect oncoming seizures; Plum, a dog with disabilities who is a social media superstar; and more.
2021 DOGS OF THE YEAR, the third edition of this special, debuted on Thursday, December 16, 2021 at 8pm ET/PT on The CW. Hosted by Kevin Frazer and Keltie Knight, this one-hour special features an all-new cast of characters, while celebrating the dogs that go above and beyond, that leave their mark on society, and achieve the nearly impossible. Dogs being honored include the quick-thinking heroic Clover; Levi, the official Dog of Pennsylvania; the pawsome work of Mercy, a vital part of K9's suburb scent detection; the fancy and fierce eight-year-old rescue pup Miss Pickles, the Drag Pug; the inspiring Ricochet, the Surfing Pup; and Service dog Sampson, the first canine to be given access to a Chemistry lab at the University of Illinois and paving the way for the disabled.
