Season 14
Plot Synopsis
This sci-fi drama series follows the adventures of a mysterious time-traveler, known simply as 'The Doctor,' and his companions who risk death and danger battling aliens and monsters as they traverse the spectrum of time. Sci Fi aired the U.S. premiere of this series on Friday, March 17, 2006.
Matt Smith takes on the role of the 11th incarnation of "The Doctor," taking over the role from the 10th Doctor, portrayed by David Tennant, at the beginning of Season 5. The 10th Doctor had a group of companions with Rose as the main person in the ensemble. The 11th Doctor had a single companion, Amy Pond, but gained a new companion, Clara, in "The Snowmen" Christmas special, which first aired in the United States on Christmas Day 2012 at 9pm ET. Three months later, Clara Oswald was officially introduced as the Doctor's newest companion when DOCTOR WHO returned for its Season 7 spring premiere on Saturday, March 30 at 8pm ET/PT on BBC America, the first of eight new episodes during which the duo found new adversaries and familiar friends around every corner as they journeyed from the bottom of the ocean in a submarine to the center of the TARDIS and beyond. Plus, the Cybermen made a thunderous return and the Ice Warrior arrived in an unexpected place. The Doctor regenerated in the 2013 Christmas special, DOCTOR WHO: THE TIME OF THE DOCTOR, which premiered on Wednesday, December 25th at 9pm ET on BBC America. In this special, the Eleventh Doctor received a signal that brought him face-to-face with a massed force of the universe's deadliest aliens. What this signal means for his future life is unknown, but when the clock strikes twelve, the Eleventh will be no more.
DOCTOR WHO returned for its eighth season on Saturday, August 23, 2014 at 8:15pm ET/PT on BBC America. The episode ushers in a new era for the show as Peter Capaldi stepped into the role of the Doctor. Fans first got a glimpse of Capaldi's Doctor in the 50th Anniversary Special, and again in the final minutes of last year's Christmas Special, but the upcoming season premiere marks the first full episode for the Twelfth Doctor. Capaldi was joined by Jenna Coleman, who returns as companion Clara Oswald, and Samuel Anderson, who joins the cast as Danny Pink, a teacher at Coal Hill School where Clara also works.
DOCTOR WHO returned for its 12-episode ninth season on BBC America on Saturday, September 19, 2015 at 9pm ET/PT, launching with a two-parter, "The Magician's Apprentice" and "The Witch's Familiar," written by Steven Moffat and directed by Hettie Macdonald. Having the time of their lives, the Doctor and Clara embark on reckless adventures in all of space and time. Michelle Gomez is back as the villainous Missy (aka The Master) and Maisie Williams guest stars. The new season sees the Doctor and Clara going on a journey that takes them to deadly alien planets, creepy underwater bases, Viking villages, a global Zygon uprising, and through hidden alien dens, to the very end of time itself. Meeting monsters old and new, the Doctor comes face-to-face with Missy, a city of Daleks, deadly mercenaries called the Mire, terrifying ghosts and more.
Season 10 of DOCTOR WHO premiered in the United States on Saturday, April 15, 2017 at 9pm ET/PT on BBC America. Peter Capaldi returns as the Doctor for his last season, leaving the iconic role in the 2017 Christmas special after three seasons. Peter is joined in Season 10 by new companion Pearl Mackie, and Matt Lucas with guest appearances to come from David Suchet and Michelle Gomez. He has starred alongside Jenna Coleman as his companion Clara Oswald, Alex Kingston as River Song, Ingrid Oliver as Osgood, as well as Keeley Hawes, Tom Riley, Frank Skinner, Maisie Williams, Joivan Wade and many more. Peter's Doctor has fought Daleks and Davros, Cybermen, Zygons, new monsters like the Veil and old foes the Time Lords. In the season opener, "The Pilot," two worlds collide when the Doctor meets Bill Potts and a chance encounter with a girl with a star in her eye leads to a chase across time and space.
