Season 1 Season 2
Plot Synopsis
Created by Oscar-winning filmmaker Alex Gibney, DIRTY MONEY is a documentary series that exposes brazen acts of corporate greed and corruption -- from crippling payday loans to cars that cheat emissions tests.
On Friday, January 26, 2018 at 3:01am ET/12:01am PT, Netflix released six episodes of DIRTY MONEY. The series opener, "Hard NOx," tells the story of Volkswagen's "clean diesel" cars, which seemed like a dream come true for carbon-conscious drivers -- until a fraud of staggering proportions came to light. Then in "Payday," behind the lavish lifestyle of race car driver Scott Tucker lay a secretive lending empire built on tribal perks and profits from poor customers. Subsequent episodes focus on: drugmaker Valeant; banking giant HSBC; the maple syrup heist in Canada; and Donald Trump's empire.

DIRTY MONEY returned for its six-episode second season on Wednesday, March 11, 2020 at 3:01am ET/12:01am PT, as Netflix released the entire season. Episodes include:
"The Wagon Wheel": Wells Fargo was long seen as the "golden child" of banking. But former employees detail the ruthless and fraudulent practices that fueled its growth.
"The Man at the Top": Lavish parties, luxury goods, dubious loans: Scandals surrounding Prime Minister Najib Razak rocked Malaysia -- and left the nation drowning in debt.
"Slumlord Millionaire": As Jared Kushner rose from real estate heir to White House adviser, reporters and housing advocates uncovered disturbing patterns at his properties.
"Dirty Gold": Behind the huge quantities of gold flowing into the U.S. each year lies a tangled web of money laundering, illegal mining and environmental destruction.
"Guardians, Inc.": The rampant abuse of laws meant to protect the elderly has left many seniors penniless, powerless and isolated from their families.
"Point Comfort": Residents of a small Texas town were eager to welcome a massive plastics plant -- until toxic chemicals began to take a toll on their community.
