Plot Synopsis

Twenty years after growing up in the Bowers' house as the daughter of the family's housekeeper, Detective Joanna Locasto returns to her home to investigate the death of her childhood best friend, Vivian Bowers. Vivian was a wealthy socialite, notorious party girl, and heiress to the Bowers pharmaceutical empire, and she was found dead at the age of 32 of an overdose. No one was really surprised since she led a wild, privileged and tabloidic lifestyle, but FBI agent Will Moreno believed her death was a homicide; so he sent Joanna on an undercover mission to find the truth. When Joanna attends Vivian's funeral, the family re-embraces her, allowing her to uncover dark secrets and clues about why Vivian's life was very much in danger. At the same time, she rekindles an old romantic relationship and rediscovers the allure of the luxurious lifestyle she once knew. The Bowers family includes: Robert, the patriarch of the family, who is CEO of Bowers Pharmaceuticals, a Fortune 500 company; Edward, the family's eldest son, who is the smart and cold CFO of Bowers Pharmaceuticals; Sofia, Robert's second wife and Mia's mother, who is used to managing the family crises with ruthless expertise; Mia, the younger daughter, who is devastated by her half-sister's death but is following her same pattern of booze and boys; Julian, the youngest Bowers son and bad-boy womanizer, who returns home for the funeral, but is a key leader of Bowers Pharmaceuticals and the Joanna's first love; and Samantha, Edward's wife, who reluctantly accepts Joanna into their home.
