Plot Synopsis

From renegade Amish sects to New Age cults to notorious gypsy clans, everyday people search for a sense of belonging in these strange worlds. Using archival footage, re-creations, and interviews from members of these communities, DEADLY DEVOTION recounts the true stories of people who paid a fatal price after entering these strange worlds. Each 60-minute episode chronicles one story, including: a vibrant young woman, who abandons her faith and her family to join the flock of a crusading Christian Polygamist; a single mom, who embarks on a fateful journey that teaches her about the unwritten code of the Hells Angels; an ambitious career woman, who joins a self-help group led by an overzealous guru on a dangerous mission; and many more people who true-crime tales of people who didn't survive the dark underbelly of clans, cults and sects. DEADLY DEVOTION returned for its second season on Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at 9pm ET/PT on Investigation Discovery. In the season opener, "Fatal Amish Attraction," Barbara Weaver's idyllic Amish home is shattered by the ungodly actions of her husband Eli, who defies the rules of their pious, devout sect, with tragic consequences.

Investigation Discovery will premiere the third season of DEADLY DEVOTION on Monday, August 3, 2015 at 9pm ET/PT. In the season opener, "Witness to Murder," Janet Bryant is a loving mother of four and a dedicated Jehovah's Witness. With her husband Robert by her side, she's raising her children to be devoted members, as well. No one would suspect her family to be in the middle of a modern day tragedy.
