Plot Synopsis

DEAD SET ON LIFE is a half-hour reality series that follows Toronto-based chef Matty Matheson, as he travels across the Great White North to experience how Canadians around the country cook, eat, and live. Along the way he's often joined by Master Rang, his mentor, starting with the first episode when Matty returns to his hometown Erie, Ontario, where he tries some of his longtime comfort foods, like a chicken finger sub and chicken wings. DEAD SET ON LIFE premiered online in Canada on Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at Vice.com, and then debuted on television three months later on Viceland on Thursday, July 7 at 10pm ET/PT in the United States and Canada. Season 2 of DEAD SET ON LIFE premiered on Thursday, October 27, 2016 at 10:30pm ET/PT on Viceland. In the season opener, "Rang's Journey," Matty and Rang head to south Vietnam to visit the town where Rang grew up; Matty meets Rang's family and learns the harrowing story of how Rang came to Canada. Viceland premiered the third season of DEAD SET ON LIFE on Thursday, April 6, 2017 at 10:30pm ET/PT. In the season opener, "If It Ain't Rough, It Ain't Fun," Matty ventures into the everglades under the protection of Shelley Wooten, an eighth-generation Floridian fighting to keep the hardcore culture of the Gladesmen alive.

On Thursday, June 1, 2017 at 10:30pm ET/PT, Viceland premiered the Season 3 finale of DEAD SET ON LIFE. In the season ender, "Matty's Icelandic Adventure," a newly crowned Michelin Star, Ragnar Erikkson, guides Matty through an Icelandic winter wonderland of odd food and steamy hot springs.
