Plot Synopsis
Blinded as a young boy but imbued with extraordinary senses, Matt Murdock fights against injustice by day as a lawyer, and by night as Daredevil in modern day Hell's Kitchen, New York City. This one-hour series delves into the backstory of how Matt Murdock evolves into Daredevil. Matt lost his vision as child in a chemical spill, but in return his senses were heightened to an astonishing degree. As a child, martial arts mentor Stick puts him through intense physical training, honing his enhanced senses, strength, speed, agility and endurance. Instead of following his boxer father into the ring, Matt becomes a lawyer, starting a small firm with his best friend and legal partner, Foggy Nelson, and secretary Karen Page. Together, they stand up for the people of the neighborhood they grew up in. When he realizes that some problems are out of reach of the law, Matt's thirst for justice continues into the night and leads him down a dark path. Donning a mask to hide his identity, Matt uses his highly acute senses and physical prowess to hunt down the worst of Hell's Kitchen's criminals, uncovering a shadowy presence behind all of the neighborhood's myriad crime families. Businessman and shadowy figure Wilson Fisk has his own vision for the future of Hell's Kitchen and is willing to do anything necessary to achieve his goals. As Matt tries to put an end to Fisk's plan to control the area, his vigilante tactics attract the attention of the police and threaten to derail his legal career, his friendships and his hopes of saving his beloved neighborhood. Balancing ever more precariously on the line between good and evil, Matt is forced to ask himself how far into the darkness he will go to defeat Fisk. The entire 13-episode first season of DAREDEVIL, executive produced by series showrunner Steven S. DeKnight, was released by Netlix on Friday, April 10, 2015 at 3:01am ET. DAREDEVIL returned for its 13-episode second season on Friday, March 18, 2016 at 3:01am ET/12:01am PT. The second season debuts amidst the release of the Netflix original MARVEL'S JESSICA JONES, the upcoming MARVEL'S LUKE CAGE and future release of MARVEL'S IRON FIST, all leading up to the teaming of the main characters in MARVEL'S THE DEFENDERS to premiere only on Netflix. The Punisher officially arrives in Hell's Kitchen to start the new season. Meanwhile, Foggy continues to worry about Matt's violent, blood-drawing nighttime activities.
