Plot Synopsis

An epic saga about the secret history of the 1930s American heartland, DAMNATION is a one-hour scripted series that centers on the mythic conflict and bloody struggle between big money and the downtrodden, God and greed, and charlatans and prophets. Seth Davenport is a man masquerading as a small town Iowa preacher in the hopes of starting a full-blown insurrection against the status quo. Focused on his mission, he is unaware that an industrialist tycoon has hired Creeley Turner to stop the uprising by any means necessary. But unbeknownst to those around them, these two men already share a secret bloody past. Motivated by a life-changing loss, Seth has traveled across the country for seven years, fighting to liberate the common man from the grip of the moneyed few. His crusade has led him to Holden, Iowa, where for six months he has posed as a charismatic preacher, working alongside his wife, Amelia, to use the pulpit as a platform for his revolutionary political agenda. Seth's ability to inspire and lead has ignited an insurrection in Holden between the salt-of-the-earth farmers and the elites seeking to suppress them through price fixing and unjust foreclosures. The series opens with a farmer's strike escalating under Seth's leadership, causing Pinkerton strikebreaker Creeley to arrive in Holden to restore order. With the devil now at his doorstep, Seth must find a way to fuel the farmer's fight while preventing the truth of his Wyoming days from undermining their cause. Creeley has strict instructions to bust the strike by whatever lethal means necessary, but he also has a hidden agenda in Holden: to convince Seth to help clear him of the wrongful murder charge that landed him in a Wyoming prison. Clearing Creeley's name would not only prove his innocence, but also liberate him from the mysterious benefactor forcing him to kill in exchange for his freedom.
