Plot Synopsis
This series explores the relationship between Patty Hewes -- the nation's most revered and reviled high-stakes litigator -- and her bright, ambitious young protegee, Ellen Parsons. DAMAGES focuses one case per season and highlights the action outside the courtroom, including the characters' lives, relationships and power struggles. In the first season, Hewes takes on a class action lawsuit against Arthur Frobisher, an allegedly corrupt corporate billionaire. For Season 2, Hewes gets involved with Daniel Purcell, a man from her past, and her firm takes on a case against a big energy company accused of unethical practices. In Season 3, Patty battles the Tobin family to recover billions of dollars for defrauded victims who lost their life savings in a Madoff-like Ponzi scheme. The Tobin family -- Louis, his wife Marilyn and his son Joe -- is defended by the family lawyer, Leonard Winstone. In the fourth season, Patty and Ellen are embroiled in a wrongful-death suit against a private military contractor, Howard T. Erickson, who made a fortune supplying the U.S. Government with security forces in Afghanistan and is protected by his connections within the highest echelons of power in Washington, D.C. For its fifth and final season, Patty refers Channing McClaren as a client to Ellen, who realizes she is taking on a case that will be fought both in and outside the courtroom. McClaren, the founder of WikiLeaks-like website McClarenTruth.org, is sued by whistleblower Naomi Walling when her name and personal details about her life are exposed to the public.
