Plot Synopsis

First played in 1932, the CURTIS CUP is the most prestigious team trophy for women amateur golfers and contested biennially by teams representing Great Britain & Ireland and the United States. The USGA selects the USA team, while The R&A chooses the GB&I side. The format is three foursomes and three fourball matches on each of the first two days, and eight singles matches on the final day. One full point is awarded for each victory, while a half-point is earned for matches that are tied after 18 holes. In the first event, USA beat Great Britain & Ireland 5.5-3.5 at Wentworth, England with Leona Pressler Cheney, Helen Hicks, Dorothy Higbie, Opal Hill, Maureen Orcutt, Virginia Van Wie, Glenna Collett Vare, Captain Marion Hollins representing USA and Elsie Corlett, Diana Fishwick, Molly Gourlay, Wanda Morgan, Doris Park, Mrs. J.B. Watson, Enid Wilson, Playing Captain Joyce Wethered playing for GB&I.
