Plot Synopsis
Cameras follow Larry David (playing himself) at home, at work and around town in Los Angeles as he gets into predicaments with fictional and real-life personalities. Jeff Garlin plays his manager and Cheryl Hines is his wife, but the series is well-known for its appearances by guest celebrities -- sometimes playing themselves, sometimes acting as characters. This program proves how seemingly trivial details of one's day-to-day life -- a trip to the movies, a phone call, a visit from some trick-or-treaters -- can precipitate a Murphy's Law chain of misfortune to hilarious effect, putting Larry into uncomfortable situations that end up alienating him from peers and acquaintances. "Curb Your Enthusiasm" is shot without a script, and the cast is only given scene outlines so that they improvise lines as they go.
CURB YOUR ENTHUSIASM, starring Larry David, returned to HBO for its ninth season on Sunday, October 1, 2017 at 10pm ET/PT, bringing back cast member favorites Cheryl Hines as Cheryl, Jeff Garlin as Jeff, Susie Essman as Susie and J.B. Season 9 directors include Jeff Schaffer, Larry Charles, Robert B. Weide, Jessie Nelson and Bryan Gordon. Asked why he decided to come back, David said, "In the immortal words of Julius Caesar, 'I left, I did nothing, I returned.'"
Season 10 of CURB YOUR ENTHUSIASM premiered on Sunday, January 19, 2020 at 10:30pm ET/PT on HBO. The series continues to prove how seemingly trivial details of one's day-to-day life -- a cold cup of coffee, a stained shirt, a missing toothbrush -- can precipitate a chain of misfortune to hilarious effect. To keep the narrative spontaneous, the series is shot without a script and cast members are given scene outlines and often improvise lines as they go. Returning series regulars include Larry David, Susie Essman, Jeff Garlin, Cheryl Hines, Richard Lewis, and JB Smoove. In the season opener, "Happy New Year," Larry kicks off the new year with new rival Mocha Joe; at a cocktail party hosted by Jeff and Susie, Larry gets roped into lunch plans and has a misunderstanding with a caterer.
The eleventh season of CURB YOUR ENTHUSIASM premiered on Sunday, October 24, 2021 from 10:40-11:20pm ET/PT on HBO, with subsequent episodes debuting at 10:30pm. Season 11 continues to prove how seemingly trivial details of one's day-to-day life - a cold cup of coffee, a stained shirt, a missing toothbrush - can precipitate a catastrophic chain of events. To keep the narrative spontaneous, the series is shot without a script and cast members are given scene outlines and improvise lines as they go. In the season opener, "The Five-Foot Fence," a discovery in Larry's backyard threatens to derail his latest creative venture, while a clumsy mishap threatens the future of his latest romance. Albert Brooks hosts an unprecedented event, and Leon makes arrangements for an upcoming trip.
