Plot Synopsis
Rebecca Bunch is a successful, driven, and possibly crazy young woman who impulsively gives up everything -- her partnership at a prestigious law firm and her upscale apartment in Manhattan -- and moves to suburban West Covina, CA, after she bumps into Josh Chan -- her handsome, long-ago summer camp-sweetheart -- who just happens to live in that same city in Southern California. With her impressive resume, Rebecca quickly lands a new job at a local law firm, where her boss, Darryl, is more of a star-struck admirer than an authority figure. Not everyone is immediately enamored with the new hire, as the firm's head paralegal, Paula, is at first suspicious of Rebecca's reasons for relocation. However, in dealing with some secret personal troubles of her own, Paula becomes empathic to Rebecca's unrequited crush, and the two form a unique bond. Settling into her new Southern California surroundings, Rebecca eventually tears herself away from lurking on Josh's Facebook page long enough to agree to a date with Josh's friend, Greg, who works at the local sports bar. But Rebecca discovers her social media stalking has failed to uncover one important detail -- Josh's girlfriend, Valencia. Rebecca's contagious, sometimes-delusional enthusiasm begins to stir the citizens of West Covina, including her cynical neighbor, Heather, shaking them up and giving them a new soundtrack to their lives.
The CW premiered the second season of CRAZY EX GIRLFRIEND on Friday, October 21, 2016 at 9pm ET/PT. In the season opener, "Where Is Josh's Friend?," Rebecca is convinced Josh is in love with her, while Greg is nowhere to be found. Season 3 of CRAZY EX-GIRLFRIEND premiered on Friday, October 13, 2017 at 8pm ET/PT on The CW. At the end of last season, Rebecca was at her wedding, abandoned at the altar by her obsession, Josh. In that moment, Rebecca found herself in a cliffhanger -- literally, because she almost flung herself off a cliff. Instead, she found an unexpected well of strength inside herself and finally stood up to her abandoning father, flanked by her fierce girl squad -- while Josh ran off to be a priest. Now, she's out for revenge. There's also the matter of Rebecca's friends and how far they will follow her attraction now that it's turned possibly just a touch fatal. Paula, now in training to be a legal eagle, has to decide how far to walk the gangplank for her cookie, Rebecca. Meanwhile, Valencia and Heather will be facing giant obstacles and challenges in their personal lives. Plus, Season 3 spends more time with a new man in Rebecca's orbit, mega WASP Nathaniel Plimpton III, who will collide with her like a very handsome meteor. He may seem all alpha on the outside, but he has his own daddy issues to work out. In other WeCo news, supercouple White Josh and Darryl will be challenged by Darryl's baby fever. Will Darryl give up his yen for a baby Darryl or Darrylette? And how will Rebecca be entangled in their plans? And what about Rebecca's mental health? Will she finally turn her attention to the fuel for her romantic fire?
Season 4 of CRAZY EX-GIRLFRIEND premiered on Friday, October 12, 2018 at 9pm ET/PT on The CW. In the season opener, "I Want to Be Here," written by Rachel Bloom, Rebecca confronts the consequences of her guilty plea while an angry Nathaniel seeks solace in a retreat and Josh searches for answers.
