Plot Synopsis

San Diego food writer Troy Johnson travels across America in search of his ultimate food that satisfies his intense, ravenous cravings. In each 30-minute episode, Troy chooses a single food, such as pizza, fried chicken, ice cream or bacon, and he visits between three and five eateries in different cities. Episodes include: "Pizza," where Troy visits Chicago for deep-dish pizza, San Francisco, and Brooklyn, where he experiences a pizza made by the great-grandson of the first immigrant to make pizza in New York; "Fried Chicken," during which Troy travels to Charlotte (NC), Memphis, Purdue University to discover the best tasting fry oil, and New York to taste a spicy Korean twist; "Ice Cream," in which Troy find the oldest recipe in Pennsylvania, uncovers off-the-wall gourmet ice cream flavors in San Francisco, floats into an East Coast soda jerk revival in Brooklyn, hitchhikes on an organic soft serve truck in California and gets his doctorate in all things frozen and strawberry at Penn State; "Bacon," where Troy hits the 'bacon belt' in Kentucky, heads to a Bacon-Palooza where he tastes bacon inventions, comes cheek to cheek with bacon's future in Seattle, and hops on an all-bacon food truck in Los Angeles; and many more episodes.
