Plot Synopsis
Executive produced by Judd Apatow and series star and creator Pete Holmes, CRASHING is a half-hour comedy series that centers on Pete, a sheltered suburbanite in a supposedly solid marriage, who dreams of making it as a stand-up comedian. But when he finds out his longtime wife Jessica is cheating on him with Leif, Pete's safe world unravels, forcing him to reevaluate his priorities. So he flees to the New York comedy scene, where he crashes on other people's couches, in the process learning hard lessons about life and himself. Holmes draws on his own experiences as a stand-up comic, offering a behind-the-scenes look at the unpredictable world of live comedy. Among the notables appearing as versions of themselves on the show are Dave Attell, Hannibal Buress, Artie Lange, T.J. Miller, Jim Norton, Rachael Ray and Sarah Silverman.
HBO premiered the eight-episode second season of CRASHING on Sunday, January 14, 2018 at 10:30pm ET/PT. In the season opener, "The Atheist," Pete is feeling lost in the universe, but has an enlightening conversation with famed magician and guest star Penn Jillette, an atheist, which shakes Pete's faith and inspires him to try living with abandon for one night of debauchery in New York. This marks the beginning of a season in which he starts to question his faith and find his voice. Other guest stars this season include Joy Behar, Doug Benson, Bill Burr, Whitney Cummings, Wayne Federman, Jermaine Fowler, Gilbert Gottfried, The Lucas Brothers, Eugene Mirman, John Mulaney, Aparna Nancherla, Dr. Oz, Jeff Ross, Bobby Tisdale, Melissa Villasenor and Henry Zebrowski.
Season 3 of CRASHING premiered on Sunday, January 20, 2019 at 10pm ET/PT on HBO. The new season finds Pete reinvigorated - and no longer crashing on people's couches - as he reenters the NYC stand-up comedy world following his college tour. But even though he's improved, that doesn't mean he's at the head of the pack. While continuing to orbit around fellow comic and ex-girlfriend Ali, he connects with a new woman, Kat, who has a unique perspective on the comedy world and isn't trying to make it big by telling jokes. As Pete edges closer to success one stand-up set at a time, he continues to navigate his faith, dating and the ever-changing comedy scene. In the season opener, "Jaboukie," written by Judd Apatow & Pete Holmes, Pete's successful two-month college comedy tour comes to an end, and he, while donning a new look and confidence to match, takes a college-age aspiring comedian, Jaboukie (Jaboukie Young-White), under his wing. But Pete's return to New York finds him having an awkward reunion and a big audition at the Comedy Cellar that could change everything. Returning guest comics Dave Attell, Artie Lange and John Mulaney appear as versions of themselves. Other established talents making appearances in Season 3 are: Ray Romano, Amy Schumer, Estee Adoram, Wayne Federman, Greg Fitzsimmons, Chris Gethard, Kevin Brennan, Elon Gold, Joyelle Johnson, Jessica Kirson, Emo Philips, Colin Quinn, Vanessa Ramos, Modi Rosenfeld, Wil Sylvinces, Marissa Jaret Winokur and Jaboukie Young-White.

In the series ender, "Mulaney," written by Judd Apatow & Judah Miller and directed by Gillian Robespierre, Pete jumps at the opportunity of a lifetime to open for John Mulaney at New York's Town Hall, but the gig leaves him in an awkward situation.
