Plot Synopsis
More than three decades after the debut of Carl Sagan's COSMOS, renowned astrophysicist Dr. Neil deGrasse Tyson hosts COSMOS: A SPACETIME ODYSSEY, an updated version of the iconic PBS series from the '80s. Just like the original series, the new version of COSMOS explores how we discovered the laws of nature and found our coordinates in space and time, bringing to life never-before-told stories of the heroic quest for knowledge and transporting viewers to new worlds and across the universe for a vision of the cosmos on the grandest -- and the smallest -- scale. This series reveals the grandeur of the universe and re-invents celebrated elements of the original series, including the Cosmic Calendar and the Ship of the Imagination. Plus, the most profound scientific concepts are presented with stunning clarity, uniting skepticism and wonder, and weaving rigorous science with the emotional and spiritual into a transcendent experience. With a video introduction by President Barack Obama, who invited a new generation to embrace the spirit of discovery, Fox Broadcasting Company and National Geographic Channel simultaneously broadcast the world-premiere episode of this series on ten U.S. channels: Nat Geo, Nat Geo Wild, Nat Geo Mundo, Fox, FX, FXX, FXM, Fox Sports 1, Fox Sports 2 and Fox Life. After the premiere, COSMOS: A SPACETIME ODYSSEY aired Sundays at 9pm ET/PT on Fox and Mondays at 10pm ET/PT on Nat Geo. Seth MacFarlane is an executive producer.
