Plot Synopsis

Created by Charlie Day and Paul Fruchbom, THE COOL KIDS is a half-hour sitcom about a rowdy, rag-tag group of friends living in a retirement community who are willing to break every rule in order to have fun -- because, at their age, what do they really have to lose? Hank is the leader of this motley crew, a gruff, opinionated, 21st century Archie Bunker who will go to any lengths to have a good time. His loyal, but less than helpful, friends include Charlie, a bumbling wanderer who constantly goes off on tangents about some bizarre, barely believable episode from his life; and Sid, a fun-loving hedonist with a flair for the melodramatic. Complicating matters is Margaret, a brash, confident woman who forces her way into their group and refuses to leave because she's not going to take crap from anyone -- especially not these three. But what unites them all is their shared belief that they're not done yet -- not by a long shot. Growing old with dignity is for chumps. These self-proclaimed "cool kids" are determined to make the third act of their lives the craziest one yet. The guest cast in the series opener includes: Artemis Pebdani as Allison, Jamie Farr as Dudley, Eduardo Franco as Delivery Clerk, Kat Purgal as Party Planner, Charlie Day as Chet the Handyman, Roger Vernon Burton as Phillips. On Friday, January 4, 2019 at 8:30pm ET/PT, FOX debuted "Funeral Crashers," the mid-season premiere of THE COOL KIDS. When Hank finds out his ex-wife will be at a mutual friend's funeral, Margaret volunteers to be his "hype man" and lie about his success to impress her. Charlie and Sid love a good funeral, so they crash it against Hank's orders. Guest Cast: Jackee Harry as Lorraine, Rick Fox as Reggie, Bob Gunton as Colonel Christianson, Weston Nathanson as Squadron Member, and Sandy Francis as Mourner.

On Friday, May 10, 2019 at 8:30pm ET/PT, FOX premiered the season finale of THE COOL KIDS. In the season ender, "The Friend-aversary," Hank, Charlie and Sid prepare their Friend-iversary party, and don't include Margaret. Noticing the tension between Hank and Sid, Margaret encourages Sid to speak up for himself. Meanwhile, Sid has his sights set on the patio for their party and attempts to convince the cat ladies to release it to them. Guest Cast: Lynne Marie Stewart as Judy, Artemis Pebdani as Allison, Jamie Farr as Dudley.
