Plot Synopsis
CONCRETE COUNTRY features sidewalk performances by country singer/songwriters, filmed across the country in their hometowns and on city streets within earshot of iconic American landmarks. Each 10-minute episode chronicles the makeshift concert of a single artist, including the debut episode with Brian Davis, who performed a four-song set from downtown Nashville's lower Broadway, delivering acoustic versions of "Dirty," "Bang Bang," "Hurt Like Hell Yeah" and "Against the World." Subsequent episodes documented the music of: Whiskey Myers in Tyler, TX; The Black Lillies in Knoxville, TN; Stoney LaRue in Oklahoma, OK; Nikki Lane in Nashville, TN; Casey Donahew Band in Fort Worth, TX; Turnpike Troubadours in Tulsa, OK; and The Dirty River Boys in Austin, TX. Before becoming a TV series, CONCRETE COUNTRY was a web series that launched on CMT.com in March 2012, highlighting the music of singer/songwriters Caitlin Rose, Carolina Chocolate Drops, Green River Ordinance, Jason Boland, Lydia Loveless, Robert Ellis, The Farewell Drifters, The Infamous Stringdusters, The Lumineers, Trampled by Turtles, Will Hoge and Yarn, and more.
