Plot Synopsis

The first season of THE COMEBACK, which debuted in 2005 on HBO, followed B-level TV star Valerie Cherish and explored the madness of television, a Beverly Hills lifestyle, the dual roles of wife and stepmom, the trouble with growing older in Hollywood, and the bravery of a comic-tragic 40-year-old actress who was desperate to look like she was keeping her head above it all. THE COMEBACK returned for a new eight-episode season on Sunday, November 9, 2014 at 10pm ET/PT on HBO. Now, it's almost ten years later -- there's more TV than ever and she wants back in. Valerie thinks she has it all figured out this time. She doesn't. This time, rather than having a reality crew follow her around, she's being filmed for behind-the-scenes footage for SEEING RED, the fictional show she's been cast in on HBO, playing Mallory Church. The new season also features a number of guest stars playing themselves, including Andy Cohen, RuPaul, Lisa Vanderpump, Carla Hall, Brad Goreski, Seth Rogen, and more. Created by Michael Patrick King and Lisa Kudrow, who will serve as executive producers along with producing partner Dan Bucatinsky.

On Sunday, December 28, 2014 at 10pm ET/PT, HBO premiered the "Valerie Gets What She Really Wants" episode of THE COMEBACK. In the one-hour season finale, it's Emmy weekend and Valerie is getting her first real taste of success, thanks to her popular performance in SEEING RED. At Juna's big Hollywood party, Valerie turns a few heads, including that of her hunky former ROOM AND BORED co-star, who is now a big action film movie star -- Chris MacNess (guest star Kellan Lutz). And Valerie wonders if her husband, Mark despite all their differences, will be there with her on the biggest night of her life.
