Plot Synopsis
To commemmorate the 150th anniversary of the Civil War, History presented a week-long event, including original documentaries and special Civil-War themed episodes of its popular series. On Memorial Day 2011 (May 30), History premiered Tony and Ridley Scott's two-hour feature documentary, GETTYSBURG, narrated by Sam Rockwell. GETTYSBURG uses CGI and action footage to tell the story of the soldiers on the ground -- from their perspective -- highlighting turning points, technology and little known facts. Earlier that same evening at 8pm, History aired a repeat of an episode of PAWN STARS that includes an Abraham Lincoln campaign ribbon, and then History premiered a new episode of PAWN STARS in which a customer presents a wanted poster of John Wilkes Booth. On the second night, History showed the two-hour documentary LEE & GRANT, which was made in cooperation with Civil War historian Winston Groom. On Wednesday, June 1, 2011, History premiered special episodes of AMERICAN PICKERS ("Civil War Pickings") at 9pm and PAWN STARS ("Civil War Edition") at 10pm.
