Plot Synopsis

Written, directed, produced and created by Dallas Jenkins, THE CHOSEN is an historical drama series about the life of Jesus, as seen through the eyes of His followers. Set against the backdrop of Jewish oppression in first-century Israel, the seven-season show reveals Jesus' revolutionary life and teachings. The pilot debuted on Christmas Eve 2017 (December 24), with the series officially debuting 16 months later on April 21, 2019. THE CHOSEN made its U.S. linear television debut on Sunday, July 16, 2023 from 8-9:30pm ET/PT on The CW.

The sophomore season made its U.S. debut on Sunday, September 10, 2023 from 8-9:30pm ET/PT on The CW. In the 90-minute season opener, "Thunder," tension builds among the disciples as they wrestle with the increasing fame of Jesus in Samaria. Jesus rebukes Big James and John for their prejudice and, after a near-violent encounter, gives them a new nickname.

Season 3 debuted in the U.S. on Sunday, November 5, 2023 from 8-9:30pm ET/PT on The CW. In the season opener, "Homecoming," Jesus delivers the most life-altering sermon in history. The result? More followers, more enemies, and disciples ready to follow Jesus anywhere. Simon and Eden reunite, Matthew faces his past, and Andrew visits John the Baptist in prison.

On Saturday, December 23, 2023 from 8-10pm ET/PT, The CW aired "Christmas with the Chosen: Holy Night," a two-hour special. A young mother and a shepherd boy experience Jesus' birth; a performance from world renowned performer Andrea Bocelli, with his son Matteo Bocelli, highlights seven musical performances and two beautiful new monologues.

Season 4 of THE CHOSEN made its U.S. broadcast TV debut on Sunday, September 1, 2024 from 8-9:30pm ET/PT on The CW. This season, the enemies of Jesus close in while His followers struggle to keep up, leaving Him to carry the burden alone. Threatened by the reality of Jesus' growing influence, religious leaders do the unthinkable -- ally with their Roman oppressors. As the seeds of betrayal are planted and opposition to Jesus' message turns violent, He's left with no alternative but to demand His followers rise up. In the 90-minute season opener, "Promises," an intoxicating dance leads Herod to put an end to John the Baptizer, but no one can stop what -- or Who -- he's ushered in.
