Plot Synopsis
Based on the series of "Chesapeake Shores" novels by Sherryl Woods, this one-hour series follows Abby O'Brien Winters, a high-powered stockbroker in NYC who returns to Chesapeake Shores when she receives a panicked phone call from her younger sister Jess, who has renovated the charming Inn at Eagle Point. The Maryland town her father Mick built has many sad memories and Abby -- thanks to her demanding career, divorce to Wes and young twin daughters Carrie and Caitlyn-- has not had time to spare. Abby returns to Chesapeake Shores with the girls for a weekend. Abby is happy to see Nell, the grandmother who raised her, but is concerned when Jess shows her the home Jess is renovating into a bed and breakfast. As usual, Jess is in a little over her head, and needs Abby's help with finances. Saving the inn from foreclosure means dealing not only with her fractured family but also with Trace Riley, the man she left ten years ago. Trace, now a successful country musician, initially poses an obstacle but becomes an unexpected ally and a second chance at finding love, as the feelings between Trace and Abby are both charged and complicated. Trace reveals to Abby that he tried to find her in New York after graduating college, but backed off when he heard she was engaged to Wes. He also admits that the fast paced life of a touring musician caught up with him, and he's in Chesapeake Shores to revive his soul. Abby is relieved to learn that the woman visiting his house was not, indeed, his girlfriend. Abby extends her visit to Chesapeake Shores when Nell is rushed to the hospital. Although Nell fortunately suffered only a minor illness, Abby's sister Bree makes a trip home. As Abby spends time reconnecting with Bree and the rest of her family, she begins to contemplate how wonderful it would be for her children to grow up around them in such a beautiful town. After she visits her firm's Baltimore office, the head of the office extends an open offer for Abby to work there. Abby finds the offer appealing, both because of the proximity to Chesapeake Shores, and because the hours are much more family friendly than she's used to in New York. That night, the reunited O'Brien family enjoys Fourth of July fireworks in lovely Chesapeake Shores. Abby decides to stay in town permanently with her daughters, though that's not the biggest surprise of the night: Mick has summoned his ex-wife -- Abby's mother, Megan -- to Chesapeake Shores. After years of strained relations, Mick believes it's time for the family to reconnect. Between her upcoming move to her hometown and her mother's return, Abby is not sure what's in store for her, but is excited for this new chapter in Chesapeake Shores.
The sophomore season of CHESAPEAKE SHORES premiered on Sunday, August 6, 2017 at 9pm ET/PT on Hallmark Channel. In Season 2, Abby adjusts to life back in her hometown of Chesapeake Shores. Abby now balances a budding relationship with her former high school sweetheart, Trace, working for a firm that does business with her uncompromising father Mick and raising two young daughters. Returning to her hometown means engaging in the lives of her siblings: Jess, a free-spirit trying to succeed as a bed-and-breakfast owner; Bree, a playwright who buys a bookstore in Chesapeake Shores after moving back home from Chicago; Kevin, a soldier adjusting to civilian life and new romance; and Connor, a new lawyer establishing his professional career. Having returned to Chesapeake Shores shortly after Abby, the O'Brien's once-estranged mother Megan strives to reestablish relationships with Abby and her siblings, though the O'Brien clan primarily looks to its wise grandmother Nell for guidance as they navigate life, love, career and romance. In the season opener, "Secrets, Lies and School Supplies," As Abby and the rest of the O'Briens prepare for the town's annual lantern festival, Trace must return to Nashville to face a mistake from his past. Meanwhile, Mick takes his granddaughters back-to-school shopping while covertly working on a business deal that is bound to cause family conflict. Jess is overwhelmed by both a busy weekend at her bed and breakfast and the news that her long-estranged mother, Megan, has returned to town for good. Amidst the joy of a small town celebration, Bree must decide if she will move to Chicago to produce her play. As the festival nears, Trace and the O'Briens attempt to put their own challenges aside so four generations of O'Briens -- including grandma Nell -- can come together for the lantern festival. The lanterns aren't the only sparks glowing as Abby and Trace ignite their romance.
Season 3 of CHESAPEAKE SHORES premiered on Sunday, August 5, 2018 at 9pm ET/PT on Hallmark Channel. The third season follows Abby O'Brien, a high-powered career woman, divorcee and mother to twin daughters, as she adjusts to life back in her hometown of Chesapeake Shores. Rekindling her romance with Trace, her former high school sweetheart, Abby discovers that their relationship will be rocked by not only his newfound fame, but also her responsibility to protect her daughters. Returning to her hometown also means engaging in the lives and loves of her siblings: Jess, a free-spirit and owner of a successful bed and breakfast; Bree, a former playwright who buys a bookstore in Chesapeake Shores who has written a family tell-all; Kevin, a soldier adjusting to civilian life, a new career and a newly serious romance; and Connor, a lawyer who is finally stepping out of his brother's shadow. With the support of their uncompromising, highly successful businessman-father, Mick, their once-estranged mother, Megan, and their wise grandmother Nell, the O'Briens are a family that must face life's challenges, but always finds hope in their enduring love toward one another as they navigate life, love, career and romance.
The fourth season of CHESAPEAKE SHORES premiered on Sunday, August 25, 2019 at 8pm ET/PT on Hallmark Channel. In the new season, Trace returns from tour, determined to get back to the life he had in Chesapeake Shores with Abby, but finds it might not be possible to go back to the way things were. As he settles back in at The Bridge, a talented, but stage-shy waitress-songwriter (Lanie McAuley) catches his attention. Abby faces an ethical dilemma involving an important new client. When doing the right thing puts her job on the line, she reevaluates her work-life balance and meets an intriguing new man (Greyston Holt). Mick faces his own professional peril, when it's revealed that a once trusted vendor has been cutting corners and he implicates Mick. As he and Megan explore their connection, while trying to avoid the mistakes of the past, his legal distractions threaten to pull him back into old habits. Changes are in store for all of the O'Briens as Kevin and Sarah make plans for their future; Jess and David consider going back to where it all started; Bree enlists a talented producer to stage a loosely autobiographical play that gives her new insights into her relationship with Simon; and Connor considers a career opportunity and ponders his feelings for Danielle. Not a moment too soon, Nell returns to Chesapeake Shores with some much-needed sage advice.

After insisting that their wedding take place in Chesapeake Shores, David's parents present Jess with a legal document that puts her on edge. Bree returns from London fresh off the run of her play and receives an intriguing job offer that would reunite her with her high school nemesis. Unbeknownst to Connor, the law firm he's now working for may be representing a client who could be a major conflict of interest for the O'Brien family.
