Plot Synopsis
Renowned collector and car archeologist Wayne Carini finds, buys, restores and sells some of the finest and most unique vehicles ever manufactured. Whether he is restoring a vintage ride or searching for a hidden gem in garages around the world, Wayne chases down original one-off cars in secret stashes around the country, while meeting the hobby's most respected collectors, restorers, and artisans.
In Season 5, which opened on October 16, 2012 at 10pm ET, Wayne travels to Porsche meet-up at the European Auto Salvage Yard in Emeryville, CA, purchases an unrestored 1913 Thor Twin and sidecar from the Lee Roy Hartung Collection auction, and seeks an apprentice by evaluating McPherson College students assembling a Model T.
Season 6 debuted on Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at 10pm ET with back-to-back new episodes featuring: the Amelia Island Concours and auctions, where Wayne sells one vehicle for a potential world record price; and a Hudson Hornet, which Wayne finds from the person who sold him a Hudson Italia in 2006. This series originally premiered on Discovery HD and continued to air on that network, even after the channel changed its name to Velocity in October 2011.
Season 8 of CHASING CLASSIC CARS premiered on Monday, November 2, 2015 from 9-11pm ET/PT, as Velocity debuted back-to-back new episodes immediately following a five-hour marathon (4-9pm) of encore episodes. In the season opener (9pm), "Hey There, Hot Stutz," Wayne lands the best find of his career when a completely original 1921 Stutz Bearcat is discovered in a Georgia garage. Then, in the night's second new episode (10pm), "Whip It Good," custom coachbuilder Steve Moal is commissioned to design and fabricate a one-off hot rod; Wayne prepares a rare Du Pont for the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance.
Velocity premiered the ninth season of CHASING CLASSIC CARS on Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at 9pm ET/PT. In the season opener, "Road to Minerva(na)," Wayne and car buddy Ralph can't believe their good fortune when they win a sealed-bid auction for a one-of-one, all-original 1930 Minerva bodied by Hibbard & Darrin, but as extraordinary as the car itself is the story of the man who owned it: an eccentric recluse, John Whitney Hawkinson (known locally as "Hawkeye") walked away from a life of privilege and into the Adirondacks where he lived for decades in an uninsulated farmhouse and quietly amassed a collection of more than 40 classic cars. The following week, Wayne turns the collector car world on its ear when he makes the surprise announcement that he's selling the best barn find of his career, his 100% original 1921 Stutz Bearcat with just over 11,000 miles from new. The Stutz Bearcat made international headlines in 2016 when Wayne put the car on Bonhams auction block during Monterey Car Week. In the rest of the season, Wayne tirelessly pursues the world's rarest, most exotic vehicles from different eras, including: a 2003 BMW Z8 Alpina Roadster; a cute-as-a-button 1958 BMW Isetta 300; a vintage 1962 Vespa scooter restored for fashion designer Ralph Lauren; a 1994 Porsche 964 3.6 Turbo S Flachbau; a 1958 SAAB GT 750; a 1964 Saab Gran Turismo 850; a 1965 Saab Monte Carlo 850; 1901 Panhard; a 2014 La Ferrari; 1966 Ford GT40; and so many more.
On Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at 10pm ET/PT, Velocity premiered a new season of CHASING CLASSIC CARS. In the season opener, "Porsche 4Cam vs. Steve Jobs' BMW Z8," Wayne must take a leap of faith to bring home a 1957 Porsche 356A 1500 GS Carrera with a rare four-camshaft engine. When Apple guru Steve Jobs' 2000 BMW Z8 goes up for sale, the current owner turns to Wayne for help.

CHASING CLASSIC CARS returned for a new season on Tuesday, October 20, 2020 at 10pm ET/PT on MotorTrend Network. Wayne finds a rare mid-sixties Griffith 200 in a parking garage. It's been hiding in plain site for over 20 years, and he wants to revive it in time to show it at an exclusive East Coast Cars and Coffee.
