Plot Synopsis

Using archival footage, CGI animation, re-enactments, and first-person interviews with survivors and witnesses, CHAOS IN THE SKIES chronicles some of the most tragic disasters in aviation history. Each 60-minute episode focuses on a different cause of air disasters, such as: "Extreme Weather," documenting how appalling weather conditions usually have no effect, but can sometimes lead to disaster, like a plane struck by lightning on Christmas Eve 1971; "Collisions," exploring key connections that explain why disastrous collisions between aircraft continue to occur; "Terrorism," highlighting how hijackers and suicide bombers use aircraft for acts of international terrorism; "Fire on Board," chronicling how the airline industry works to reduce the threat of in-flight fires, while showing China Airlines Flight 120 catching fire on August 20, 2007; and "Engineering Error," documenting the struggle to eliminate engineering errors in aircraft.

CHAOS IN THE SKIES returned for its second season on Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at 10pm ET/PT on AHC: American Heroes Channel. The Season 2 opener, "737 Tail Fin Mystery," tells the story of the desperate hunt for an explanation to the Boeing 737 mystery and the engineering ingenuity that led to a solution for a malfunction on the most widely used jet liner.
