Plot Synopsis

Hosted by Mayim Bialik and Peter Funt, this new version of CANDID CAMERA sticks with the hidden camera concept introduced to television in 1948, as unsuspecting people are filmed in bizarre, challenging and hilarious situations. Each 60-minute episode features gags that use modern technology and have fun with today's most buzzed about topics -- from a garage that won't service straight people to a mailman revealing he has been replaced with a drone. The series premiere episode features guest star Megan Hilty, who baffles mechanics in a classic then-and-now gag -- first pulled years ago on the original CANDID CAMERA -- when she rolls into their garages asking for an inspection, only for them to find that her car has no engine. Subsequent episodes feature gags fronted by guest stars, including: NYC's Hot 97 DJ Peter Rosenberg, who encourages aspiring rappers to improvise lyrics with non-existent words; singer/actress Carnie Wilson, who poses as a jittery tattoo artist; baseball Hall of Famer Reggie Jackson, who joins the program with a mystifying magician; and more celebrities who make people smile when their on CANDID CAMERA. In addition to hosting this series, Peter Funt, the son of the show's original creator and host Allen Funt, is also an executive producer. After premiering CANDID CAMERA on Monday, August 11, 2014 at 8pm ET/PT, TV Land aired new episodes nightly at 8pm through Thursday, August 14, 2014, before showing CANDID CAMERA in its regularly scheduled spot on Tuesdays at 8pm ET/PT, starting August 19, 2014.
