Plot Synopsis

Based on "A Legend in the Booth with Hank Azaria," an episode of Funny or Die's GAMECHANGERS web series, BROCKMIRE is a half-hour comedy series that centers on Jim Brockmire, a famed major league baseball announcer who suffers an embarrassing and very public meltdown live on the air after discovering his beloved wife's serial infidelity. Now, a decade later, Brockmire decides to reclaim his career and love life in a small town, calling minor league baseball for the Morristown Frackers, which is owned by the strong-willed Jules. IFC premiered BROCKMIRE on Wednesday, April 5, 2017 from 10-11pm ET/PT, showing back-to-back episodes. Earlier in the day, IFC renewed BROCKMIRE for a second season.

The eight-episode second season of BROCKMIRE premieres Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at 10pm ET/PT on IFC. Now one year removed from the Season 1 finale, which found Brockmire chasing an opportunity to call games in New Orleans (and leaving Jules in the process), he is a top podcaster with his show "Brock Bottom," while living with his co-dependent friend Charles...and boozing harder than ever. Trying to still reclaim his career as a top sportscaster, Brockmire indulges in the sinful temptations of the Big Easy, pines for his ex-girlfriend in Morristown, PA, and struggles to find his purpose in life. In the season opener, "The Getaway Game," now calling minor league games in New Orleans, Jim is up for the major leagues in Atlanta; he competes against Raj, a likable young announcer; Charles works on the podcast despite Brockmire's antics; a friend from Morristown stops by for a visit. Guest stars Katie Finneran and Hemky Madera return as Lucy Brockmire and Pedro Uribe, respectively. New guest stars coming for Season 2 include: Becky Ann Baker as Jean, Brockmires's tall, weathered, sober and asexual sister who lives in the Ozarks and resents Jim for her being forced to take care of their abusive alcoholic father all these year; Carrie Preston as Elle, a nihilistic female version of Brockmire whose fearless partying and self-destructive attitude fuels Brockmire's descent into the dark abyss that is partying in New Orleans; Dreama Walker as Whitney, a tough, ambitious Southern belle who heads PR for Atlanta's pro team - she sets in motion the competition between Brockmire and Raj to see who will win a major league broadcasting job and develops a clear preference as to who should wi; Utkarsh Ambudkar as Raj, a young, charismatic announcer who represents a "diversity play" to Whitney; he calls the New Orleans Crawdaddy's road games and is pitted against Brockmire to replace a beloved and ancient major league announcer in Atlanta.

On Wednesday, April 3, 2019 at 10pm ET/PT, IFC premiered the third season of BROCKMIRE. Season 3 takes place three months after Brockmire's stint in rehab, with him doing play-by-play in the radio booth for the major leagues in central Florida during spring training while maintaining his brazen and narcissistic tendencies, despite actually being on the wagon. When an opportunity arises for Jim and his new co-host Gabby to take over as lead broadcasters in Oakland, he must fight to change his ever-present amorality. Additional Season 3 guest stars include Richard Kind, Linda Lavin, Martha Plimpton, J.K. Simmons, Christine Woods and Becky Ann Baker.

The fourth and final season of BROCKMIRE premieres on Wednesday, March 18, 2020 at 10pm ET/PT on IFC. Returning for the series' final season are Amanda Peet, Tyrel Jackson Williams and Katie Finneran. Additionally, Reina Hardesty has joined the series' line-up for the final eight episodes. Said Executive Producer and star Hank Azaria, "I really loved this season in several very right and a few very wrong ways. I hope you will too." Jim Brockmire commented: "Making this show has been one of the top 7 joys of my life. Others include: that time by the swings with this guy Phil; my visit to the belt factory; my childhood days on the carrot farm; every time I finish a pancake challenge; that moment when you pass a porta potty and it really stinks then finally you get far enough away from it where you don't smell it anymore and just normal air seems like sweet, sweet perfume to you." In the season opener, "Favorable Matchup," the world is in chaos in the year 2030, but at least Jim broadcasts his favorite sport and has the love of his daughter Beth...but then Jim learns baseball is worse off than he thinks and Beth is moving to New York for college.

On Wednesday, May 6, 2020 at 10pm ET/PT, IFC premiered "The Long Offseason," the series finale of BROCKMIRE. Artificial intelligence threatens to take steps in its pursuit to rule the world and attempts to take over baseball. Jim and Jules must decide if they want to embolden this emerging society ruled by machines or stay with the failing status quo.
