Plot Synopsis
Inspired by the life and work of author and physician Dr. Oliver Wolf Sacks, BRILLIANT MINDS is a one-hour medical drama series that follows revolutionary neurologist Dr. Oliver Wolf and his team of interns at Bronx General Hospital, where they explore the last great frontier -- the human mind -- while grappling with their own relationships and mental health. The cases in the show are inspired by Dr. Sacks' real-life brain disorder research and treatment, some of which he chronicled in his non-fiction books "The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat" (1985) and "An Anthropologist on Mars" (1995). The series is a love letter to Dr. Sacks, a man who dedicated his life to destigmatizing mental illness by telling stories about people living with neurological conditions in a way that was accessible to the world. The core theme embodies the message that defined Sacks; life: No matter how "other" you may feel, you are not alone.
