Plot Synopsis
Each year since 1984, the BREEDERS' CUP, also known as "Racing's Greatest Day," has been held at an iconic track in the United States at the end of the thoroughbred racing season worldwide. The BREEDERS' CUP features multiple races, but is highlighted by the BREEDERS' CUP CLASSIC, run at 1-1/4 miles, which usually includes the top contenders and winners from that years KENTUCKY DERBY, PREAKNESS STAKES, and BELMONT STAKES in addition to horses that qualified through the BREEDERS' CUP CHALLENGE SERIES. The inaugural BREEDERS' CUP was held at Hollywood Park in Los Angeles, with seven races, featuring the world's greatest horses, jockeys and trainers competing on one stage for $10 million in purses. NBC provided four hours of coverage of the first event, and has been the U.S. television home of the event since then.

On Saturday, November 2, 2024 from 3:30-6pm ET/12:30-3pm PT, NBC broadcasts live coverage of the 41st BREEDERS' CUP CLASSIC from Del Mar Racetrack in Del Mar, CA. Ahmed Fareed and Britney Eurton host coverage alongside analyst and Hall of Fame jockey Jerry Bailey, who owns 15 Breeders' Cup wins; analyst Randy Moss, who has covered 38 of 40 Breeders' Cup World Championships; reporters Donna Brothers, Nick Luck and Kenny Rice; and handicapper Eddie Olczyk. Larry Collmus will call all of NBC Sports' Breeders' Cup races.
The Longines Breeders' Cup Classic has a post time of 5:41pm ET/2:41pm PT. Fierceness (3-to-1 morning line odds) has won three of five starts in 2024, including the Travers Stakes (G1) on August 24, and is trained by 2019 Breeders' Cup Classic winner Todd Pletcher; City of Troy (5-to-2) is a three-year-old colt from Ireland trained by Aidan O'Brien, who has never raced on dirt; Sierra Leone (12-to-1) is a three-year old colt who finished runner-up by a nose in this year's Kentucky Derby and won the 2024 Blue Grass Stakes (G1); Forever Young (6-to-1) is three-year-old colt from Japan, who finished third in 2024 Kentucky Derby; and Highland Falls (20-to-1) is a four-year-old colt who earned entry to this race by winning the 2024 Jockey Club Gold Cup Stakes (G1), and is trained by Brad Cox.
In addition to the Classic, the Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint (3:41pm ET post time), Breeders' Cup Distaff (4:21pm ET) and Breeders' Cup Turf (5:01pm ET) will be presented live Saturday on NBC and Peacock.
For first time on a network horse racing broadcast, dual drone coverage will enable the tracking of horses for live and replay coverage with one drone positioned above and behind following the pack, and the other racing alongside the horses around the entire track.
