Plot Synopsis

Hosted by Tom Papa, BOOM! is a general knowledge quiz series that challenges teams of three players to defuse the game show's increasingly larger ticking slime-bombs by cutting the wires relating to correct answers, leaving the wrong ones untouched. If the players get it right, they win big money; if they get it wrong or run out of time, the bomb goes boom and they are showered with anything from guacamole to maple syrup, eliminating the player who got slimed. The team continues with its remaining players until all three are eliminated. Each of the six rounds is timed, with increasing cash-prize values, starting at $5,000 for the first question and $50,000 for the sixth round. If at least one player remains after six rounds, the team advances to the Mega Money Bomb round, where the slime bomb has ten wires -- one for each of the seven correct answers and three for the wrong ones. If a contestant defuses the slime bomb by answering the question with no wrong answers, the contestants quadruple its winnings from the first six rounds, allowing teams to win up to $500,000. But if they get one answer wrong, they're slimed and their winnings are halved.

On Thursday, September 10, 2015 at 8pm ET/PT, FOX premiered the season finale of BOOM! In the season ender, "It's the Refried Beans Bomb!," teams compete in trivia, but will be showered with refried beans if they get it wrong or run out of time.
