Season 1
Plot Synopsis
Each short-form episode of BOOKTUBE features a prominent author or notable personality, who discusses their best-selling book with a panel of top BookTubers and YouTubers. And like any great book club, this series meets once a month -- on the third Thursday of each month -- beginning October 2019.
BOOKTUBE first debuted as a special on Tuesday, March 19, 2019, featuring Michelle Obama drawing more than 1.5 million views, as she discussed her book, "Becoming." Premiering during Women's History Month, this forum was moderated by John Green, co-founder of YouTube channels Vlogbrothers and Crash Course, who was joined by these panelists and YouTube creators, including Jouelzy, Ariel Bissett, Kat O'Keeffe, Jesse George and Franchesca Ramsey.
Shortly after the special's debut, YouTube picked up BOOKTUBE as a series, which had its official series premiere on Thursday, October 17, 2019. In the debut episode, Malcolm Gladwell discussed his new book, "Talking to Strangers," with moderator Derek Muller (/veritasium) and three panelists and YouTube creators: Naya Perkins (/nayareadsandsmiles), Danielle Bainbridge (/originofeverything), and Ellias Hoang (/ellias).
Subsequent episodes feature Melinda Gates, James Patterson, Margaret Atwood, and more.
