Plot Synopsis

As a companion series to the drama series BMF, THE BMF DOCUMENTARY: BLOWING MONEY FAST is an eight-episode documentary series that cover the full arc of the BMF story, from the Flenory family's rise in the early '80s in Detroit, through the peak years during the late '90s and early aughts, to the end of their reign in 2006, up to present day. This half-hour episodic documentary series is about the infamous Black Mafia Family, as told by former members, insiders, associates, and celebrity figures close to the family. From Detroit corner boys, to notorious drug kingpins, and hip hop kingmakers, the series charts the meteoric rise and fall of BMF founders: Demetrius "Big Meech" and Terry "Southwest T" Flenory, two brothers who built one of the largest cocaine empires in American history. The fabled story spans four decades across five major U.S. cities, immersing viewers in a network of crisscrossing relationships between crime, hip hop, and law enforcement. The series affords viewers exclusive access inside all the epic family feuds, high stakes drug deals, suspicious murders, and champagne drenched parties attended by hip-hop royalty. The docuseries features exclusive access to the Flenory Brothers and former BMF members, while journalists and consultants close to the key players provide the production authenticity, historical, and cultural context. Additionally, the series will feature exclusive interviews, never-before-seen archival footage, original verite footage, celebrity interviews, and original impressionistic imagery inspired by first-hand accounts. Episodes include:

"Detroit Dreams" (Sunday, October 23, 2022): In Detroit early 1980s, the Flenory family is struggling to make ends meet prompting their sons Demetrius "Meech" and Terry to turn to drug dealing in an effort to help. The money starts to roll in, but with their success comes their first big challenge: Layton "The Beast" Simon. Directed by Shan Nicholson and Chris Frierson.

"Gangster Boogie" (Sunday, October 30, 2022): The rivalry between the Flenory brothers and Layton escalates, reaching a deadly new level. Meanwhile, the Detroit drug landscape is shifting due to gang wars, creating new opportunities of fame and fortune for those who survive. Meech and Terry have to decide if it's worth risking their lives to stay. Directed by Shan Nicholson.

"The South's Got Something to Say" (Sunday, November 6, 2022): Meech lands in Atlanta, determined to build a drug empire and with it, a new life. After securing a cartel connection and building a nation-wide network of loyal hustlers, the "Black Mafia Family" is born. Directed by Shan Nicholson and Chris Frierson.

"The World Is BMF's" (Sunday, November 13, 2022): Meech and Terry form BMF Entertainment, branching out into music, but as they reach their pinnacle of fame and fortune, law enforcement is getting suspicious.

"Club Chaos" (Sunday, November 20, 2022): A deadly shooting at Atlanta's hottest nightclub brings unwanted attention to Meech and BMF. Law enforcement zeros in on key evidence to the case they are building against BMF.

"Time to Run" (Sunday, November 27, 2022): The Flenory brother's rift deepens, and the crew's loyalties are divided. Law enforcement makes key discoveries that force Meech to make a life-changing decision.

"Thunderstorms in the Forecast" (Sunday, December 4, 2022): Meech can't escape his old habits as he tries to stay a free man and keep BMF alive. Little does he know that his remaining crew aren't as loyal as they may seem.

"Legacy" (Sunday, December 11, 2022): The Black Mafia Family story comes to a dramatic close, as law enforcement makes their final play. Meech and Terry hope their legacy won't be written with them behind bars.
