Plot Synopsis
After being on the FBI's Most Wanted List for decades, ex-government agent Red Reddington mysteriously surrenders to the government and offers to catch a long-thought dead terrorist, Ranko Zamani, and others on his blacklist of politicians, spies and terrorists. Red has only one condition: he must work with Liz Keen, an FBI profiler fresh out of Quantico, with whom he seemingly has no connection. Does Liz have secrets of her own? What does Red have planned for her, as he teaches her to think more like a criminal? Plus, there's Liz's husband, Tom, who may have a secret of his own. Other government agents include: Donald Ressler, the Field Agent In-Charge; Harold Cooper, the Assistant Director of Counterterrorism at the FBI; Jennifer Palmer, an FBI Agent, who is Liz's best friend and Meera Malik, who is brought in to mentor Liz.
THE BLACKLIST returned for its second season on Monday, September 22, 2014 at 10pm ET/PT, airing again on Mondays at 10pm ET/PT in the fall, before moving to Thursdays at 10pm ET/PT midseason. In the season opener, "Lord Baltimore," Red continues to battle Berlin (guest star Peter Stormare) and faces a new threat from a man named Lord Baltimore. An important person comes back from the past into Red's world. Meanwhile, Liz tries to move forward with her life after her showdown with Tom. In the midseason finale, Red's motives for Berlin take a sudden turn when he learns Berlin was manipulated by the latest Blacklister to avenge Red. Red and Berlin travel to Moscow to track down a high ranking Russian official who they believe is responsible. Meanwhile, Liz struggles to keep her secret from unraveling.
Season 3 of THE BLACKLIST premiered on Thursday, October 1, 2015 at 9pm ET/PT on NBC. In the third season, Liz is now a fugitive and on the run with Red. With Assistant FBI Director Harold Cooper under investigation, a conflicted Agent Ressler leads the FBI Task Force on a massive manhunt for Liz and Red -- who are more dangerous together than apart, since Liz has expert knowledge of FBI procedures and no one exceeds Red's vast resources. As they struggle to stay one step ahead of their former colleagues, and Liz immerses herself in Red's underworld of disreputable contacts and covert operations, will the list of this season's new Blacklisters play a key role in their survival or their demise? Liz is on an unpredictable journey of self-discovery, and all the pieces of her life, including her indefinable relationship with Tom, will be drastically challenged as she continues to believe Red holds all the answers. The season kicks off with the FBI hunting Liz for the murder of the Attorney General. Red and Liz are named to the FBI's Ten Most Wanted Fugitives list and set out on the run to evade capture. Red calls upon a Blacklister called "The Troll Farmer," to help them flee the city, while the task force must question whom of their own can still be trusted. Dembe is put in a dangerous and compromising position.
