Plot Synopsis
BIZARRE FOODS: DELICIOUS DESTINATIONS takes viewers on an international journey to iconic cities around the world for a taste of their quintessential, not-to-be missed dishes. From melt in your mouth chocolate in Zurich to decadent gelato in Florence, savory paella in Barcelona to creamy clam chowder in Boston, the half-hour weekly series is an exploration of iconic foods, where they came from, how they are made, and the right way to eat them. Visiting cities such as London, Munich, Hong Kong, New Orleans and more, Zimmern takes viewers into the kitchens where generations of chefs prepare and serve the cities' most beloved dishes. The premiere episode explores the ancient city of Athens, Greece and some of its most recognizable food, beginning with gyros and souvlaki. Along with a third generation restaurant owner, Zimmern guides viewers through the unique preparation of classic dishes, and reveals how the Greek have perfected these timeless recipes. Next, Zimmern stops at Krinos bakery for deliciously deep-fried Greek doughnuts called loukamades, followed by a look at the story behind spanakopita.
On Monday, July 6, 2015 from 9-10pm ET/PT, Travel Channel premiered the second season of BIZARRE FOODS: DELICIOUS DESTINATIONS, showing back-to-back new episodes. In the season opener (9pm), "San Francisco," Andrew discovers just what makes The City by the Bay so delectable, built on classics like Dungeness Crab Louie and sourdough bread. In the second new episode (9:30pm), "Jamaica," explores island icons from jerk chicken and mannish water soup to blue mountain coffee and gizzadas. Earlier in the day (Noon-3pm), Travel Channel presented a three-hour marathon of encore episodes.
Season 3 of DELICIOUS DESTINATIONS premiered on Tuesday, January 26, 2016 at 9pm ET/PT on Travel Channel, with 14 all-new half-hour episodes, plus six hour-long episodes, highlighting not-to-be-missed foods that define a location. Zimmern takes viewers into the kitchens where generations of chefs prepare and serve the cities' most beloved dishes. This season's international tour explores quintessential dishes from a variety of destinations including Seattle, Honolulu, Louisville, Portugal, Sicily, Puerto Rico and Manila. In the one-hour season opener, Zimmern heads to Memphis, TN, a city where napkins are a necessity and BBQ is a religion. Exploring Memphis' iconic eats, from fried catfish and thick bologna to juicy ribs and the famous Elvis sandwich, he uncovers flavors that will get viewers all shook up.

The fourth season highlights the not-to-be-missed foods that define a location. Whether it's sinful New York cheesecake, savory pork sandwiches in Chile or Bangkok's signature pad thai, most travelers want to experience the local favorites. But how many really know the origins of these iconic foods? Journey around the world for a firsthand tour of each city and the inside scoop behind its most beloved dishes. In the season premiere (9pm), Zimmern explores the country classics of Nashville, TN, from blazing hot chicken to cool, sweet pie. Music City mainstays include savory pork chops and heaven-sent biscuits smothered in gravy to BBQ juicy enough to make you sing. Then, in the night's second episode (9:30pm), Zimmern highlights the sweet and savory dishes of Sydney, Australia -- from tender kangaroo to light, delicate Pavlova. The 26-episode fifth season of BIZARRE FOODS: DELICIOUS DESTINATIONS premiered on Tuesday, April 18, 2017 from 9-10pm ET/PT, as Travel Channel debuted back-to-back new episodes. In the season opener (9pm), Zimmern savors the traditional Appalachian fare of Asheville, North Carolina, where smoky BBQ pork is king and creamy sweet potato pie melts in your mouth. Nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains and acclaimed as Beer City USA, this eclectic spot offers up flaky rainbow trout straight from mountain streams, the juiciest fried chicken in the South and the most divine biscuits and red eye gravy that demand an Instagram post. Then, in the night's second new episode (9:30pm), Andrew presents Buffalo's edible icons. From spicy wings and sweet pepperoni pizza to enormous cake doughnuts and heaping plates of meat and potatoes slathered in sauce, Buffalo's edible icons are as robust and inventive as the city itself. Season 6 of BIZARRE FOODS: DELICIOUS DESTINATIONS premiered on Tuesday, October 3, 2017 from 9-10pm ET/PT, as Travel Channel debuted back-to-back new episodes: "Mississippi Delta" (9pm): Andrew explores the iconic soul food of the Mississippi Delta. From fried catfish and hushpuppies to smothered oxtails and decadent mud pie, the Deep South's down-home dishes soothe the soul. "Panama City" (9:30pm): Andrew digs in to Panama City's classic tastes inspired by the blended cultures that make up the capital city's population. From fried whole fish and plantains to citric ceviche and yucca fritters packed with steak, the Latin flair of this multicultural city seasons every dish.
On Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at 9:30pm ET/PT, Travel Channel premiered the seventh season of BIZARRE FOODS: DELICIOUS DESTINATIONS, immediately following a brand-new half-hour special at 9pm. After a seven-month break, BIZARRE FOODS: DELICIOUS DESTINATIONS returned with new episodes on Tuesday, August 21, 2018 from 9-11pm ET/PT, as Travel Channel debuted back-to-back new episodes.
Moving to Cooking Channel for new episodes beginning on Wednesday, February 5, 2020 at 10pm ET/7pm PT, the new network aired previously unaired Season 7 episodes of BIZARRE FOODS: DELICIOUS DESTINATIONS, as well as new Season 8 episodes.

Season 9 of BIZARRE FOODS: DELICIOUS DESTINATIONS premiered on Monday, December 7, 2020 at 10pm ET/7pm PT on Cooking Channel. In the season opener, "The Bronx," Andrew explores the international flavors of one of America's most diverse communities, the Bronx, New York. He finds Italian-influenced bites like dry-aged pork sausage and saltimbocca, spicy Jamaican meat pastries, authentic Manhattan clam chowder and even savory Albanian pastries.
