Plot Synopsis

BIG EASY MOTORS is a half-hour reality series that follows Charles Handler and his crew at The Bomb Factory in New Orleans, as they find long-forgotten piles of junk and turn them into dazzling custom cars -- from a 1957 Chevy Bel Air convertible to a 1967 Shelby Mustang GT. He searches all over Louisiana for one-of-a-kind classics, invests his own money to fix them up, and then sells them at auction. These treasures can sell for big money so there's a huge profit to be made, if everything goes according to plan. After relocating to Louisiana from his hometown in Tennessee to receive a doctorate in industrial-organizational psychology, Charles fell in love with the Big Easy lifestyle and decided New Orleans was his kind of town. Not long after, Charles began transforming old antique automobiles back to their former glory and beyond. He continued his passion for rockin' hot rods with his buddy Trey, a mastermind mechanic and co-owner of The Bomb Factory, and the two spent all their spare time fixing up cars. Before they knew it, their hobby exploded into a full-time business in 2009 when the shop Trey was working at closed down. With a more practical and economic outlook, Trey is the nuts and bolts of The Bomb Factory and a self-proclaimed car encyclopedia. Trey has the knowledge and the capability to take almost any rust bucket that comes their way and turn it into a beast for the streets. Their crew includes: Devin, a mechanic and the newest addition to The Bomb Factory, who hails from Tuscaloosa, AL, where his father was a used car salesman and mechanic who taught Devin everything he knows about fixing up classic cars; Benny, a shop assistant and jack-of-all-trades, who is a native Louisianan, hailing from Bayou Lafourche; and Chris, the head mechanic, who got his professional roots working on aircraft for the United States Air Force.

On Tuesday, August 16, 2016 from 10-11pm ET/PT, History premiered the season finale of BIG EASY MOTORS, showing back-to-back new episodes. In the night's first new episode (10pm), "Bayou Bronco," Charles and Trey get a call from a man deep in the Bayou looking to unload his 1971 Ford Bronco. The duo hope to revamp this pony in time for a classic car auction a few weeks away. Since Broncos aren't the typical car featured at a classic car auction, Charles wants to capture buyers' attention by transforming it into a classic California off-roading vehicle, but Trey fears that Charles' eccentric vision might alienate bidders. The team faces an impractical hood scoop, a challenging paint job, four decades of wear and tear, and the on-going fear that collectors just won't see the value in a car most iconic for a chase down the 405. Then, in the season finale (10:30pm), "Mystery Trike," Charles and Trey get a lead on a possible Ed Roth Trike, a three-wheeled monster that is motorcycle in the front and car in the back. While Trey is hesitant about the authenticity of purchase due to lack of documentation, Charles trusts his gut and takes a risk--he buys the Trike for a hefty amount of money. While Charles faces the challenge of authenticating this vehicle, the team gets to work transforming the frame and fiber-glass body into the rolling work of art Ed Roth himself would be proud of.
