Plot Synopsis
BIG CITY GREENS is an animated comedy-adventure series that follows the adventures of 10-year-old Cricket Green, a mischievous and optimistic country boy who moves to the big city with his wildly out of place family -- older sister Tilly, father Bill and Gramma Alice. Cricket's natural curiosity and enthusiasm lead him and his family on epic journeys and into the hearts of his new neighbors. The series hails from comic book creators and brothers Chris and Shane Houghton and is influenced by their childhood growing up in the small rural town of St. Johns, Michigan, with many of the locations and characters inspired by their real-life family members and townsfolk. Each half-hour episode consists of two stories, including the series opener:
"Space Chicken": To impress his new neighbors, Cricket attempts to launch a chicken into space. Anna Akana guest stars as cafe barista Gloria and Zeno Robinson guest stars as Cricket's best friend Remy.
"Steak Night": The Greens are excited to continue their traditional monthly steak dinner, but Cricket accidentally loses the steaks on the subway.
Other guest voices for Season 1 include: Jon Hamm as store manager Louis; Raven-Symone as news reporter Maria Media; Busta Rhymes as a wise fish; Danny Trejo as bodyguard Vasquez; Jim Rash as waiter Ted; Paul F. Tompkins and Lauren Lapkus as city hipsters Justin and Val; Andy Daly as Officer Keys; Scott Aukerman as a radio DJ; Griffin McElroy as a pepper merchant; Paul Scheer as supermarket manager Chip Whistler; Lorraine Toussaint as Remy's mom; and Colton Dunn as Remy's dad. On May 17, 2018 -- one month before the series premiere -- Disney Channel ordered a second season of BIG CITY GREENS.
