Plot Synopsis

A group of the best male and female tattoo artists from around the country compete in a series of elimination challenges, as they vie for the grand prize: $100,000 and a cover story in "Tattoo" magazine. Each 60-minute episode features two challenges: the Flash Challenge, which tests their overall artistic and creative skills; and the Ink Challenge, in which they produce bona fide masterpieces on skin. After each challenge, the artists are critiqued and one of the contestants is sent home by: head judge and world-renowned tattoo artist Joe Capobianco; international pinup model and tattoo shop owner Sabina Kelley; portrait tattoo specialist Hannah Aitchison, added to the panel for Season 2; and a guest judge from a rotating roster of talent. During Season 1, competition winner Brittan 'London' Reese and the other artists were tasked with designing a tattoo that: commemorates a personal story or life-changing moment; pays tribute to well-known musical icons; and many more challenges. Season 2, which premiered on Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at 10pm ET/PT on Oxygen, featured guest judges like Ray J, Gym Class Heroes lead singer Travie McCoy, designer Angela Simmons, urban artist Justin Bua, tattoo artist Miya Bailey, and designer Vanessa Simmons.

BEST INK returned for its third season on Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at 10pm ET/PT on Oxygen, with host Pete Wentz and all three judges returning for another season. Season 3 guest judges included: Hannah Aitchison's brother, Guy Aitchison, who is a tattoo artist and painter; legendary special effects artist Glenn Hetrick; surfing icon Laird Hamilton; and many more celebs and tattoo specialists, who judged contestants taking part in all-new challenges, such as wrecking a car at a demolition derby and creating visually stunning biomechanical tattoos.
