Plot Synopsis
Detective Catherine 'Cat' Chandler is a smart, no-nonsense homicide detective. Several years earlier, Cat witnessed the murder of her mother at the hands of two gunmen. Cat would have been killed too, but someone -- or something -- saved her. No one has ever believed her, but she knows it wasn't an animal that attacked the assassins...it was human. Years have passed, and Cat is a strong, confident, capable police officer, working alongside her equally talented partner, Tess. While investigating a murder, Cat discovers a clue that leads her to a handsome doctor named Vincent Keller, who was reportedly killed by enemy fire while serving in Afghanistan in 2002. Cat learns that Vincent is actually still alive and that it was he who saved her many years before. For mysterious reasons that have forced him to live outside of traditional society, Vincent has been in hiding for the past 10 years to guard his secret -- when he is enraged, he becomes a terrifying beast, unable to control his super-strength and heightened senses. Cat agrees to protect his identity in return for any insight he may have into her mother's murder. Thus begins a complex relationship between Cat and Vincent, who are powerfully drawn to each other yet understand that their connection is extremely dangerous for both of them. Cat finally learned that her mother was involved in an experiment to make super-soldiers, and when the experiment went wrong, the soldiers, including Vincent, were turned into uncontrollable beasts. Now, Muirfield, the organization that sent the gunmen after Cat's mother, is hunting Vincent and infiltrates Cat's own life. When ADA Gabe Lowan was assigned to find the mysterious vigilante, he recognized Cat's attachment to Vincent, revealed that he was also a beast, and kidnapped Cat to lure Vincent to his death. BEAUTY AND THE BEAST returned for its second season on Monday, October 7, 2013 at 9pm ET/PT on The CW. Season 2 opened with Cat reunited with Vincent after her abduction in the previous season. But her reunion didn't go as planned: Vincent's scar has disappeared, his memory wiped clean, and he is again living life as a beast on a mission. With the help of friends J.T., Tess and reformed ADA Lowan, Cat is determined to get answers, save her soul-mate, and solve the secrets that swirl around her own life. In the Season 2 finale, Cat searches for a way to thwart Gabe and finds her answer in an unexpected place: the journal of her ancestor, which makes Cat fear the only way to stop Gabe is by killing Vincent. BEAUTY AND THE BEAST began its 13-episode Season 3 run on Thursday, June 11, 2015 at 8pm ET/PT on The CW. As Season 3 begins, Cat and Vincent are able to focus on their love, finally free from Muirfield, manhunts and beasts. However, that love will be tested as new and more dangerous threats await. When they learn that innocent victims are being used to test the boundaries of the impossible, Cat and Vincent will uncover a deeper conspiracy, one which Vincent can fight only by turning to the beast he carries within. But unleashing the beast will risk Vincent's life -- along with his and Cat's love -- as they struggle to build a normal life together. BEAUTY AND THE BEAST returned for its fourth and final season on Thursday, June 2, 2016 at 9pm ET/PT on The CW. In the season opener, "Monsieur et Madame Bete," Vincent and Cat's wedded bliss comes to a halt when they learn from J.T. that someone is trying to expose the identities of beasts. While on the hunt to find out who is behind the threat, Tess is reluctant to help since they are all trying to move forward with an attempt at normal lives.
