Plot Synopsis
Based on Hugh Howey's series of short stories of the same name, BEACON 23 is a one-hour sci-fi mystery thriller that's set at a remote "lighthouse" in space in the 23rd century. At the farthest reaches of the Milky Way, Aster, a government agent, and Halan, a stoic ex-military man, have their fates become entangled after they find themselves trapped together inside one of many Beacons that serve as a lighthouse for intergalactic travelers. Every Beacon is run by one highly trained human and a specialized Artificial Intelligence. Aster mysteriously finds her way to the lonely Beacon-keeper Halan, and a tense battle of wills unfolds. Halan begins to question whether Aster is friend or foe, as her ability to disguise her agenda and motives could make her a formidable opponent. BEACON 23 premiered on Sunday, November 12, 2023 with back-to-back episodes from 9-11pm ET/PT on MGM+.
The sophomore season of BEACON 23 premiered on Sunday, April 7, 2024 at 9pm ET/PT on MGM+. In Season 2, Beacon 23 is now little more than a prison with Aleph onboard, and The Artifact provides more questions than answers. Without a clear path forward, the inhabitants of Beacon 23 must rely on each other, but their conflicting agendas may get in the way.
