Plot Synopsis

BBQ HIGH is a one-hour docuseries that follows an ensemble of high school students competing in the high stakes league of Texas High School BBQ -- all on the road to the state championship. They work to perfect mouthwatering BBQ dishes like dessert, beans, chicken, ribs and brisket -- all while navigating the challenges of being a teenager, finishing their senior year, and making pivotal life decisions. BBQ HIGH debuted on Sunday, August 18, 2024 with two new episodes from 1-3pm ET on Magnolia Network, as well as Max and discovery+. A new installments premieres weekly at 1pm on Sundays thereafter. Episodes include:

"The BBQ Season Begins" (Sunday, August 18, 2024 at 1pm): After a disappointing result at State, Marc begins his BBQ season working on his ribs recipe; Zane (Ben Barber Innovation Academy), the ribs champion, starts his year off on the wrong foot, jeopardizing his chances of victory.

"Turning Up the Heat" (Sunday, August 18, 2024 at 2pm): Marc and Zane battle to win the top prize in ribs to qualify for the BBQ State Championship; small-town student Emery (Granbury High School) hustles at practice as her future hinges on perfecting her chicken skin to win scholarships.

"David vs. Goliath" (Sunday, August 25, 2024 at 1pm): After qualifying for State, Zane's team struggles to stay engaged at their next competition and his coaches find creative ways to teach them; meanwhile, an overly large chicken may cost Emery her future and a chance to go to her dream college.

"Decisions, Decisions" (Sunday, September 1, 2024 at 1pm): Marc takes steps towards his future while Zane stands at a crossroads; Team Seriously Smokin' hustles to pay for State and new student Cami (Southlake's Carroll High School) tries to figure out how to perfect her dessert.

"Journey to the State Championship" (Sunday, September 8, 2024 at 1pm): Emery comes up with a new method to finally get her chicken skin crispy; Cami gets advice from a pastry chef and Marc works to perfect the spice on his ribs while Zane returns to the basics in the final weeks.

"The Final Showdown" (Sunday, September 15, 2024 at 1pm): Tempers and temperatures flare up as all the hard work over the past year culminates at the Texas High School BBQ State Championship; four seniors battle hundred schools for the ultimate bragging rights for best in the state and scholarships.
