Plot Synopsis

Host Eddie Jackson hits a new city in each half-hour episode, where he welcomes three of the best local grillers, smokers and fire-roasters to an outdoor cook-off for a grand prize of $5,000 and BBQ bragging rights. The competition starts when Eddie challenges each cheftestant to transform their signature grilled masterpiece into a completely different dish for two hungry judges. After an elimination, he chooses one special ingredient that the remaining two must turn into the BBQ dish of their lives. The $5,000 grand-prize winner is named by a panel of judges that mixes culinary experts including Ingrid Hoffmann and Kent Rathbun with Eddie's food-obsessed pals like former NFL players Anthony Lucas and Ken Hamlin. Eddie, a former NFL player and the Season 11 winner of FOOD NETWORK STAR, visits cities where he has connections, including: Miami and Charlotte, North Carolina, where he played professional football; Dallas, his childhood hometown; Little Rock, Arkansas from his college days; Montgomery, Alabama, where his extended family lives; and BBQ mecca Kansas City. In the series opener, "Little Rock Wrangle," Eddie makes his way back to where he played college football in Little Rock, AR, to check out what the top chefs in town can do in the BBQ Blitz arena. Special judges, chef Kardea Brown and former football player Anthony Lucas, help deem the BBQ Blitz Champ and award the $5,000 prize.

On Friday, November 13, 2015 at 10:30pm ET/PT, Food Network premiered the season finale of BBQ BLITZ. In the season ender, "Carolina Cook-off," Eddie returns to Charlotte, N.C., where he got his start in the NFL. He's throwing a tailgating party right outside the Carolina Panthers stadium, and the competitors are ready to prove North Carolina knows its barbecue! Special judges, chef Tom Condron and former Carolina Panthers cornerback Dante Wesley, will have some tough decisions to make in crowning the BBQ Blitz Champ.
