Plot Synopsis
This one-hour reality series follows Alabama State University's famous marching band, the Mighty Marching Hornets, which embarks on a new school year of practices and drama as they prepare new routines for half-time shows and other performances. The season begins as five candidates audition to be Head Drum Major. Meanwhile, the Stingettes (the dance line) and the Honey Bees kick off their seasons with a bang. The Marching Hornets are known throughout the collegiate world for their amazing mashups and dance collaboration with Miley Cyrus and Robin Thicke at the MTV Video Music Awards, and the marching band first gained national recognition when it was featured during the halftime show on NBC's presentation of a game between the New York Jets and the Kansas City Chiefs on December 10, 1967. The Stingettes, whose name is derived from the stinger of the Hornet mascot, made their debut in 1977, while the Honey Bees first performed at the Southern vs Alabama State University game in Montgomery, Alabama in 2004.
