Plot Synopsis

THE BACHELORETTE gives women from THE BACHELOR a second chance to find love -- on their own terms. Each season, one contestant from a previous season of THE BACHELOR -- usually a fan-favorite who came oh-so-close to winning the heart of the Bachelor -- is selected as The Bachelorette. While searching for her best friend, soul mate and future husband, she now gets to decide who stays and who goes home. THE BACHELORETTE has produced one of the most-watched and most-successful relationships in American reality TV history -- Trista Rehn and Ryan Sutter.

Season 9 featured Bachelorette Desiree Hartsock, the beautiful women who captured America's heart on the 17th season of THE BACHELOR when she struggled to tell Bachelor Sean Lowe that he was making a big mistake when he sent her packing after the hometown dates.

THE BACHELORETTE returned for its tenth season on Monday, May 19, 2014 at 9:30pm ET/PT on ABC, before moving to its regular time period on Mondays at 8pm ET/PT the following week. Although bachelorette Andi Dorfman couldn't get enough of Juan Pablo's attention on THE BACHELOR, she's ready to call the shots and find love on her own term.

The eleventh season of THE BACHELORETTE had a two-night premiere event on ABC on Monday, May 18, 2015 from 9-11pm ET/PT and Tuesday, May 19, 2015 from 8-9pm ET/PT. In Season 11, there are two Bachelorettes greeting their suitors for the first time ever: the charismatic beauty Britt Nilsson, who captivated Chris Soules and the rest of Bachelor Nation with a memorable hug on that first night at the Bachelor mansion; and Kaitlyn Bristowe, the gorgeous, fun-loving, warm-hearted, but irreverent firecracker who let down her guard only to have her heart crushed. So now, 25 eligible bachelors choose between these two amazing women. Who will the men prefer? Eventually, only one woman will be left to hand out the final rose.

On Monday, May 23, 2016 from 9-11pm ET/PT, ABC premiered the twelfth season of THE BACHELORETTE, with host Chris Harrison and stunning real estate developer JoJo Fletcher, 25, getting a second chance at her happily-ever-after, choosing from 26 handsome bachelors. After being devastated last season of THE BACHELOR by a shocking rejection from Bachelor Ben Higgins, who confessed his love to both her and Lauren Bushnell, the Texan beauty is ready to leave that heartbreak behind and write her very own love story as the Bachelorette. JoJo will embark on her own journey to find her soul mate. In the season opener, a long, exciting night awaits JoJo, but first, a trio of former Bachelorettes -- Kaitlyn Bristowe, Desiree Hartsock Siegfried and Ali Fedotowsky -- return to offer some practical advice on how Jo Jo should handle the jitters, drama and emotional pitfalls as she searches for her future husband. They warn her that there is a big difference between red hot chemistry and love. A nervous but beaming Bachelorette is blown away by the lengths some of the bachelors go to create a memorable first meeting. One southern gentleman uses his guitar to charm JoJo with a song he wrote for her. A DJ brings a classic R&B group, All-4-One, to serenade her. One shy man shows off his Scottish heritage -- and legs -- by wearing a kilt. But one bachelor really stands out by riding in on a unicorn, harkening back to JoJo's own entrance on THE BACHELOR. The men continue to try and dazzle the Bachelorette during their one-on-one time. One bachelor steals her away and attempts to wow her with some push-ups. Some guys are so overwhelmed that they get off to an awkward start: One man asks for a kiss too soon and another has such an immediate attraction to Jojo, it leads to the first kiss of the season. The pressure mounts as Chris Harrison brings out the first impression rose, leading to some drunken antics by three inebriated men. JoJo wonders if some of these guys are here to meet her or just party. However, she does find a bachelor who deserves the first impression rose and he accepts it quite happily as his jealous contemporaries look on. But it wouldn't be a first rose ceremony without a surprise. An unexpected visitor from the past arrives and pulls the shocked Bachelorette aside, as the other men wonder if they have new competition for JoJo's heart. After the night is over, 20 men remain to try and become the love of JoJo's life.

On Monday, May 22, 2017 from 9-11pm ET/PT, ABC premiered the thirteenth season of THE BACHELORETTE, with new Bachelorette Rachel Lindsay and returning host Chris Harrison. A luminous enthusiastic Bachelorette braces herself for the experience of a lifetime and the possibility of finding her Prince Charming. The memorable first meetings begin with Brady, a male model who hauls out a sledgehammer to "break the ice" and get acquainted. Matt, a construction sales rep, attempts to endear himself to Rachel by wearing a penguin costume. Blake E., one of the men who received an early introduction on the "After the Final Rose" show, doesn't want to waste his second chance. The aspiring drummer, not to be outdone, brings along a marching band to stir things up.

Season 14 of THE BACHELORETTE premiered on Monday, May 28, 2018 from 8-10pm ET/PT on ABC, with Becca Kufrin beginning her search for Prince Charming. Becca captured America's heart when she found herself at the center of one of the most gut-wrenching BACHELOR breakups of all time. Now the Minnesota girl next door returns for a second shot at love and gets to hand out the roses, searching for her happily-ever-after. After opening herself up to finding love with Arie Luyendyk Jr. last season on THE BACHELOR, this hopeful, down-to-earth woman embarks on her own journey to find her soul mate, meeting 28 bachelors who are all eager to win her heart and the final rose.

On Monday, May 13, 2019 from 8-10pm ET/PT, ABC premiered the fifteenth season of THE BACHELORETTE. From Miss Alabama USA to Hannah B. and Hannah Beast, every journey has prepared Bachelorette Hannah Brown for her pursuit of the fierce love she so deserves. With a newfound sense of self and her southern charm, Hannah is ready to shed her perfect pageant persona and keep it real as she begins her new quest to find her forever love. Hannah returns to find her soul mate from an impressive group of 30 hopeful bachelors who are willing to jump the fence and bring out their inner beast, all in the name of love. Little do they know that Hannah's Angels -- Demi Burnett and Katie Morton from the 23rd season of THE BACHELOR -- are keeping an eye out on the men from a surveillance van parked by the Bachelor Mansion, for the first time in Bachelor history. What intel will they gather, and what drama will ensue? At the end of the night, 22 lucky bachelors remain to toast the Bachelorette, with hearts overflowing and romantic adventures yet to come. The bachelors who will vie for Hannah's heart will be announced shortly. This season, romantic excursions will take Hannah and the men to remarkable locales around the globe, including Scotland, the Netherlands, Latvia and Greece. Special appearances by celebrity couple Jason Biggs and Jenny Mollen, Boston Celtics' Jaylen Brown and Terry Rozier, renowned runway coach Miss J. Alexander, and world famous drag queens Alyssa Edwards and Alaska, along with special performances by pop music star Lukas Graham and hit country music artist Jake Owen, will lead to an unforgettable adventure of a lifetime.

Season 16 of THE BACHELORETTE premiered on Tuesday, October 13, 2020 from 8-10pm ET/PT on ABC, as Clare Crawley finally embarks on her journey to find her soul mate. After putting Juan Pablo in his place on the 18th-season finale of THE BACHELOR, and gaining a new sense of resolve and self-worth, Clare is more than ready to put her romantic disappointments in the rearview mirror and start a wild ride to find her happily ever after. Thirty-one amazing, accomplished men from all over the nation have left their families, friends and everyday lives behind for the opportunity to meet the stunning hairdresser from Sacramento, California. The bachelors do whatever they can to stand out from the pack, whether it is arriving in a Rolls Royce or a station wagon. At the end of a long first night, 23 men remain and attempt to become the love of Clare's life, and viewers will get their first glimpse at the shocking moment that will change the course of this passionate, crazy journey, unlike any other in franchise history. In the season's fourth episode, a determined Clare formulates a plan to share her deep feelings with Dale over a romantic dinner. Meanwhile, Chris Harrison sets the stage, sitting down with Dale and informing him where Clare stands and what she hopes will be the outcome. Clare is uncertain of what will happen next, as her history of being disappointed by men comes back to haunt her, but Chris encourages her to have the courage of her convictions and trust her heart. Clare shows up to tell Dale how she feels, but will he do the same? Chris then delivers more astonishing news to the remaining men -- if they are willing to take a second chance at love, there's a surprise waiting for them. Clare and Dale are leaving the series. In Season 16's fifth episode (November 10), Tayshia Adams, a fan favorite from THE BACHELOR and BACHELOR IN PARADISE, has arrived to find the love of her life. Just when she is ready to begin her journey, another surprise arrives -- more men are added to the 16 remaining bachelors who are excited to get to know her. The competition for Tayshia's heart heats up, but one man is struggling with his enduring feelings for Clare. Clare and her fiance, Dale, have a heart-to-heart chat with Chris Harrison as they try to explain the thunderbolt that hit both of them simultaneously. Brendan captures the first one-on-one date with Tayshia, but although he is eager to make a deeper connection, he is worried that baggage from a past relationship might put an end to his romantic prospects before the night is over.
