Plot Synopsis
Created, executive produced and hosted by Amy Sedaris, each half-hour episode of AT HOME WITH AMY SEDARIS revolves around a traditional theme, combining Sedaris' humor and talents as a crafter, chef, baker and hostess. Through her imaginative characters and unique point of view, the series -- a mash up of hospitality, variety and talk show formats -- showcases Sedaris' diverse but necessary homemaking skills -- from Frenching beans and gutting a trout to crocheting miniature sweaters and entertaining businessmen. AT HOME WITH AMY SEDARIS premiered on Tuesday, October 24 from 10:30-11:30pm ET/PT, as truTV debuted back-to-back new episodes. In the series opener (10:30pm), "TGIF," with help from her fisherman ex-boyfriend (guest star Kurt Schreiber), the emotionally troubled community knife sharpener (guest star David Pasquesi), and energetic neighbor, Patty Hogg, Amy prepares a fish dinner with all the nautical trimmings for a local group of businessmen (guest stars Paul Giamatti, Todd Barry, Josh Hamilton). After thoughtful planning, a lesson on lamb chops and a run in with infectious earrings, Amy welcomes her businessmen and is quickly reminded why she doesn't associate with them. Then, in the second episode (11pm), "Cooking for One," from solo meal preparation to tantalizing tactics in self-care, Amy boasts about the advantages of living the single life - until a set visit by Greek chef Panos Sakkus (guest star Scott Adsit), changes everything! Blinded by boyfriend bliss, Amy decides single life is for the birds... until Panos hits on one backtracking sax player. Additional Season 1 guest stars include: Stephen Colbert, Rachel Dratch, Cole Escola, Jane Krakowski, Heather Lawless, Sasheer Zamata, and more.
The sophomore season of AT HOME WITH AMY SEDARIS premieres Tuesday, February 19, 2019 at 10pm ET/PT on truTV. In the 10-episode second season, comedian Amy Sedaris invites guests back into her rich, imaginative -- and slightly deranged -- world, applying her sincere brand of silliness to a one-of-a-kind comedy that showcases her cooking, crafting and homemaking skills. The new season again features Sedaris' frenemy Chassie Tucker -- played by actor Cole Escola -- with episodes revolving around new themes, each with a subversive twist and featuring an exhaustive list of guest stars throughout its run. Guest stars this season include: Matthew Broderick, Rose Byrne, James Monroe Iglehart, Susan Sarandon, Michael Shannon, Fred Armisen, John Early, Ana Gasteyer, Justin Theroux, Billy Crudup, Campbell Scott, Russel Schnabble, and more. In the season opener, "Teenagers," Amy grapples with irrational fear, utter confusion, and emotional fragility, and then she meets a teenager. Yup, you will meet an actual teenager, and Amy will learn something along the way. Plus, Matthew Broderick guest stars as an adolescent behavior specialist who has written "The Glass Teenagerie," a book about teens.
Season 3 of AT HOME WITH AMY SEDARIS premieres Wednesday, May 20, 2020 at 10pm ET/PT on truTV. This season, Sedaris is joined by a group of guest stars, including: Laura Benanti, Arturo Castro, Michael Cera, Ann Dowd, Rachel Dratch, Bridget Everett, Ana Gasteyer, David Alan Grier, Josh Hamilton, Darrell Hammond, Jackie Hoffman, Richard Kind, David Koechner, Jane Krakowski, Debi Mazar, Michael McKean, Chris Parnell, Tim Robinson, Paul Rudd, James Saito, Peter Serafinowicz, Michael Shannon, Jason Sudeikis, Justin Theroux, and Matt Walsh. Building on her diverse collection of eccentric original characters, Sedaris again takes turns in a variety of roles and debuts a new character this season, Detective Mungus, joining Southern socialite Patty Hogg, peculiar neighbor Nutmeg, and regional wine lady, Ronnie Vino. Beloved series regular Cole Escola (Chassie Tucker), and recurring guest stars John Early (Russell Schnabble), David Pasquesi (Tony the Knife Man), Matt Malloy (Leslie), Heather Lawless (Ruth, The Lady Who Lives in the Woods), and Ana Fabrega (Esther) all return to reprise their memorable roles.
