Plot Synopsis
Culinary adventurer, best-selling author, drinker, smoker, and hedonist. In this food-obsessed world, Bourdain has carved out a distinct place as the gastro-nomic Indiana Jones, traveling the globe in search of the ultimate dining experience. In Season 8, Bourdain plays with a still fully-venomed King Cobra snake in Penang; eats a pre-made egg salad sandwich from a convenience store in Japan; is kidnapped by The Black Keys rock band and tailgates with his friend and sidekick Zamir in Kansas City; is gouged, cupped and drained of blood by a Finnish massage therapist; plays chinquilho and drinks ginjinha liquor in Lisbon; and rides a BMX bike on a Mexican beach. For Season 9 -- and his final tour around the globe for this series -- Anthony travels from east to west: Austin, Texas; Sydney, Australia; the Emilia-Romagna region of Northern Italy; the Burgundy region of France; Rio De Janeiro, Brazil; Dominican Republic; and then back home to New York City for the final episode, where he heads to Brooklyn, a melting pot of diverse cultures that have all come together in one place they now call home.
