Using a local guide -- from a rickshaw driver in Hyderabad to a Nashville cab driver -- Andrew Zimmern explores food and culture on the street behind Main street, discovering off-the-grid dives and unexpected finds. On Tuesday, April 12, 2016 at 10pm ET/PT, Travel Channel premiered a special sneak-peek episode of DRIVEN BY FOOD, as Andrew heads to Hyderabad, India, a bustling city that's home to a diverse mix of cultures and an extraordinary, complex cuisine. It's his second visit to India and his first time in this city, where he navigates the chaotic streets of India's fourth largest city with help from KK, a Hindu cab driver with 20 years experience behind the wheel, and Omer Ahmed, a young Muslim auto-rickshaw driver. From dosas to biryani to 400-year-old recipes renewed, Hyderabadis pride themselves on their diversity, tolerance and most of all their food. Four months later -- on Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at 9pm -- Travel Channel broadcast the official series premiere, as Zimmern hits the vibrant city of Rio de Janeiro to experience it like a real "carioca," tapping into three local cab drivers to get a true feel for this bustling, diverse metropolis. Zimmern experiences a beachside game of futevolei, the synchronized Olympic sport of rowing and samba lessons inside a changing favela with some of the city's best ocean views. Zimmern also stops at juice shops and sushi spots, treks to the famous Christ the Redeemer statue for an emotional experience, explores Rio's wild club scene and dines on some of the best Brazilian barbeque, seafood and meats. Additional cities featured in the first season include: Bangkok; Berlin; Chicago; Hyderabad, India; London; Medellin, Colombia; and Nashville, TN.

On Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at 9pm ET/PT, Travel Channel premiered the season finale of DRIVEN BY FOOD. In the season ender, Andrew leaves his Berlin itinerary up to two taxi drivers, one from the East side of the city and the other from the West. He eats currywurst and haute cuisine at his cabbies' favorite joints, and then tours a secret war bunker.
