Plot Synopsis
Narrated and executive produced by Garth Brooks, AMERICA'S NATIONAL PARKS is a five-part documentary takes viewers across America's world-famous and lesser-known national parks to reveal the diversity and wonder of this beautiful country, from the lush valley floors of Yosemite to the constantly erupting volcanoes of Hawai'i. The series showcases the breathtaking landscape and extraordinary wildlife in parks full of rich surprises and wonder, capturing not only stunning landscapes and frozen moments in time but intimate glimpses into the lives of the charismatic and intriguing animals that inhabit these parks. AMERICA'S NATIONAL PARKS is a week-long event with a new episode debuting each weeknight at 9pm from Monday, August 29 through Friday, September 2. Plus, all five episodes drop mid-week on Wednesday, August 31 on Disney+. Episodes include:
"Grand Canyon" (Monday, August 29, 2022 at 9pm): Grand Canyon National Park is a high-rise haven sculpted by the elements where all of life is connected. Following the cycle of seasons from winter to fall, explore the secret depths of the world's most famous natural wonder. At every elevation, from rim to riverbed, the park's wild inhabitants carve out a niche that gives them an edge in this ancient arena.
"Yosemite" (Tuesday, August 30, 2022 at 9pm): Yosemite National Park rises from lush valley floors to soaring alpine peaks. With 4 million visitors a year, famed granite faces, giant sequoias and over 400 different animal species, it's a celebrity in the world of National Parks. Despite its fame, Yosemite still holds secrets rarely seen. This episode reveals how black bears, coyotes, owls and a host of smaller critters survive in this Californian oasis.
"Big Bend" (Wednesday, August 31, 2022 at 9pm): Big Bend National Park is a vast wilderness of mountains, deserts and rivers deep in the heart of Texas. A gift to the U.S. from the Lone Star State, Big Bend National Park is a protected sanctuary for life on the southern border. With more species of birds, bugs and cacti than any other National Park in the United States, this park is a unique and harsh wonderland.
"Badlands" (Thursday, September 1, 2022 at 9pm): Badlands National Park is a land of rugged beauty, seventy-five million years in the making. Found in South Dakota, its heart is a sea of grass, making up one of the most endangered ecosystems on the Earth. This park is also home to iconic rocky spires carved from the ground by wind and rain. Among the grass and stone are some of America's most iconic species, who have evolved together to benefit each other.
"Hawai'i Volcanoes" (Friday, September 2, 2022 at 9pm): Witness the natural wonders of Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park a sacred land born of fire and sea. Home to the most unique assemblage of species anywhere on the planet, that navigate living in the ever-changing landscape shaped by the world's most active volcanoes. From humpback whales to carnivorous caterpillars, this episode reveals the largest and most ecologically diverse wilderness in the Pacific islands.

Narrated again by Garth Brooks, Season 2 of AMERICA'S NATIONAL PARKS debuted with back-to-back episodes from 9-11pm ET/PT on Monday, June 5, 2023 on National Geographic Channel. From the heart of the country to its wild expanses, each park proves a valuable and important haven for flora and fauna. In a world with constant urban development, these parks are more valuable for the health of the planet than ever before. Episodes include:
"Grand Teton" (Monday, June 5, 2023 at 9pm on Nat Geo): The soaring peaks, lush meadows and endless forests draw nearly 4 million visitors yearly. However, often hidden from view, a hardy cast of animals, from tiny pikas to grizzly bears, tough it out to survive in this iconic, wild wonder of the West. "Biscayne National Park" (Monday, June 5, 2023 at 10pm on Nat Geo): Just below Miami, hidden beneath the waves, is a giant nursery: Biscayne National Park. Thousands of animals come to rear their young or deposit them safely in the sand. Turtles, crocodiles, sharks and manatees all depend on the park as a place of refuge in a world of dangers. Biscayne National Park doesn't just protect its wildlife; it also protects us.
"Discovery Channel Islands" (Wednesday, June 7, 2023 on Disney+; Linear TV debut on Monday, June 12, 2023 at 9pm on Nat Geo): A hidden chain of wild islands in plain sight of Los Angeles -- this is the Galapagos of the North. After a short boat ride through the bountiful ocean, you arrive to find rugged beaches, mountains and forests, with unique plants and animals found nowhere else, like the miniature Channel Island fox, the dazzling Garibaldi fish and the rare brown pelican.
"Lake Clark" (Wednesday, June 7, 2023 on Disney+; Linear TV debut on Monday, June 12, 2023 at 10pm on Nat Geo): Lake Clark National Park is a hidden gem where animals, plants and people all coexist in harmony. Established in 1980, the park protects the headwaters of the largest sockeye salmon run left on Earth. It's one of the best places to watch brown bears in America and preserves the Dena'ina, an Indigenous culture whose people still live here sustainably off the land.
"Voyageurs" (Wednesday, June 7, 2023 on Disney+; Linear TV debut on Monday, June 19, 2023 at 9pm on Nat Geo): Tucked away in a corner of Minnesota, Voyageurs is a hidden gem full of secrets and surprises. Experience its wildlife and stunning beauty, from the icy grips of winter to the height of summer blooms. Accessible only by boat, this watery wonderland is a mosaic of beautifully clear lakes and pristine forest and home to some of North America's most iconic species: wolves, moose and great grey owls.
