Plot Synopsis

AMERICAN RIVER RENEGADES is a one-hour reality series that follows men who live outside the norm and call America's rivers and tributaries home. From the ice-cold Yukon River to the big muddy Mississippi and from the great Pee Dee River in South Carolina down to the flooded deltas of Louisiana, these men live and die by some of the most inhospitable terrain in the country. This series follows these river rats: Mike Valley and his employee Brooks Niedziejko, who fish in the Upper Mississippi River National Fish and Wildlife Refuge; Kip and Big Ward, who make their living finding turtles and gators in the wetlands of Louisiana; Chief PJ Simon, who fishes for salmon in Alaska's Yukon River; and Ricky and Christopher, who struggle to fill freezers from their catch on South Carolina' Great Pee Dee River and decide to trap wild hogs for cash. Animal Planet aired a sneak-peek episode of this series on Memorial Day 2014 (Monday, May 26) at 10pm ET/PT, nearly three weeks before the official series premiere on Sunday, June 15, 2014 at 8pm ET/PT. The sneak peek opened during late spring, which meant disaster for these men, who make their living on rivers. Plus, two friends on the Mississippi Delta risked sinking into the swamp, while Alaskan chief PJ Simon battled his way over narrow mountain passes in search of food.
