Plot Synopsis

AMERICAN GYPSIES follows the Johns family, one of Manhattan's most prominent Gypsy families, as they try to preserve Romani customs amid the vices of New York City while expanding their psychic shop empire throughout America. The series uncovers the inner workings of their community -- from secret elder assemblies to arranged marriages; from vicious family feuds (and dead crows left on doorsteps) to a fortune-telling shop empire. In Manhattan, a rival family encroaches on their pyschic shop turf, resulting in a violent confrontation that lands the whole family in Romani court. Meanwhile, Bobby clashes with his younger brother Nicky when he tries to open a new psychic shop without their father's blessing. Plus, the Johns brothers travel to Florida, where a cash-strapped Nicky tries to open a new psychic shop in South Beach, causing friction with rival Romani and his wife Christine. Outside of business, this reality series also captures how the Johns family deals with everyday family issues: health issues, children who dream of of Hollywood careers, celebrating births of new family members, a new generation secretly dating non-Gypsies, and sibling rivalries. This series is executive produced by Ralph Macchio.
